The lady Zuo 左is the descendant of the famous general 左宗棠 from Qin Dynasty. She offered to take us to the railroad station for free which is very nice of her.

YYifanOutstanding boutique hotel situated in the most beautiful spot by the Yulong River with breathtaking views in all four directions! We like how the style of the hotel reflects and complements the natural beauty of the area. There are abundant amenities and plenty of activities to pursue just around the property. It’s perfect for people who want to enjoy the beautiful pristine Shanshui of Guilin uninterrupted.
We travelled with our extended family of 7 and everybody had a great time (especially our 2yo). The hotel is very kids friendly and the staff are wonderful. The swimming pool is immaculate and well equipped. We were also happily surprised by the quality of the food provided at the hotel. The ingredients were local and super fresh and the beer fish was very tasty. We ended up eating most of our lunches and dinners at the hotel.
The room itself is gorgeous. We woke up everyday bathing in the morning sun with unobstructed views of the breathtaking Shanshui along the Yulong river! If you wake up early and go to the top floor, you will be rewarded with a special bonus!
We are already looking forward to our next trip to Yangshuo and Xishi Jinshe!

Placed in a quiet area away from west street.
Our only regret was cancelling 2 nights stay here then booked 2 nights in Xingping.
The swimpool amazing, breakfast was fresh & tasty.
They offer so many little extras that surprise you and least expected.
The staff were the best we met while staying in China it broke our hearts leaving, they were so gentle, caring and warm.
We loved the escooter hire did it twice and they booked a visit to Ruyi Peak again another amazing exprience recommended by the staff we had such a lovely morning exploring in the midst.
You should be so proud of all the staff and look after them they are jewells in a crown

PPengguna TetamuOverall, the front desk staff service was excellent. Most of those we spoke to were helpful and professional. However, there was this one person whom I would like to highlight in the hopes that he can be better trained. One of the front staff, a young man with curly hair, kept singing when he pushed our luggages and he also sang a bit while at the counter. This is actually very unprofessional because the front desk staff represents the hotel to a certain extent. He was also quite unhelpful when we asked him questions as he would give a one liner statement and go back to doing whatever he was doing. The other staff at the counter had to step in to answer to our questions.
In terms of cleanliness and view, it was quite good. The view in particular from our windows was amazing and had a very peaceful vibe; you can see the surrounding mountains and the ambience of the room added on to the quality.

PPengguna TetamuChuxin Homestay felt more like staying with thoughtful hosts than at a typical Yangshuo lodging. The room was quiet, spacious, and well kept, and the bed was comfortable enough to rest well after long days out. Getting around was easy with scooter rentals close by and simple food options nearby. What really made the stay smooth was the owner’s guidance — she helped map out our days realistically, steered us toward fairly priced experiences, and discouraged activities that weren’t worth the money. We arrived late on our first night and were still warmly welcomed, which immediately set the tone for the stay. Communication was always clear and timely, and the place felt safe and well managed. A small but memorable detail was Fa Cai, the calm and friendly house dog. If you prefer an honest stay without tourist traps, this homestay is a solid choice.

MMarcia PrescottIf you are in this area, I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. It was a great experience. The feeling is very rustic and feels old. But really really awesome. The people there can speak English really well. They took good care of us and made sure that we had everything we needed. Breakfast was included and we had an option for an American breakfast. It was kind of nice after we'd been in China for so long. There's a lot of amazing scenery nearby. And a few little shops. There is a hike up to Moon Hill which is awesome and not very far.

PPengguna Tanpa NamaLocation isWe stayed 2 nights at Bo Yangshuo Hotel. The location is very convenient, right at the start/end of West Street (西街), making it easy to walk around while still being slightly away from the noise.
We booked a family room with a bunk bed, which was comfortable and suitable for families. Overall, everything was good and well-maintained.
One downside worth highlighting is that the toilet glass partition has been removed, so sounds from flushing, hand washing, and showering are quite loud. The bed head is located just above the toilet area, so it can be disturbing at night. Also, when using the bathtub, be careful as water may splash onto the bed area.
Aside from this issue, our stay was pleasant and the location is a big plus, especially for first-time visitors to Yangshuo.

NNoah Haas SilvermanThe Sugar House Yangshuo is, without question, one of the most visually striking and thoughtfully designed properties in the China. The architecture and restoration of the former sugar mill are exceptional, blending industrial heritage with modernism in a way that feels both unique and intentional. The grounds are immaculate, the setting along the Li River is serene, and the overall atmosphere is refined and memorable. From a “hard product” perspective, it stands out as one of the best boutique properties in China.
That said, at its price point, the experience falls short of what would be expected from a true luxury hotel, largely due to service inconsistencies and operational gaps.
One recurring issue was the presence of outside visitors or tour groups entering the property to take photos. At times this became disruptive, with noise and even instances of people taking photos toward our private balcony. For a hotel positioning itself at the luxury level, access control and guest privacy should be much tighter.
Service, particularly in the restaurant, was uneven. Breakfast service was noticeably slow, with insufficient staff during peak periods. Similarly, room service lacked attention to detail, for example, beers were delivered warm, which should not happen at this level.
More concerning was the lack of basic guest support from the front desk. When assistance was requested to order medicine, staff declined and instead suggested that we arrange it ourselves via *******. This is a simple concierge task that a hotel of this caliber should handle seamlessly.
The pool area is a missed opportunity. Although it looks great in photos (and we really appreciated the complimentary photo service), the pool is unheated, making it largely unusable outside of peak summer. There is no proactive service, guests must go inside to the bar to place orders, and there is no assistance with towels or general poolside service. The absence of a hot tub or accessible spa facilities further limits the leisure offering.
Additionally, while the hotel advertises a range of activities, availability was inconsistent. Rafting was said to be unavailable due to safety concerns, despite visible activity on the river, and attempts to arrange rock climbing were unsuccessful without alternative suggestions being provided. A very nice DJ both is in the bar, but in our three nights over a weekend, no music was played. This creates a gap between expectation and delivery.
In summary, the Sugar House Yangshuo excels in design, setting, and overall concept, and it remains a highly memorable place to stay. However, the service model and operational execution do not yet align with its pricing. At USD 300–400 per night, guests should expect a more polished, proactive, and guest-centric experience, something that many significantly cheaper hotels in China currently deliver more reliably.
