This is an excellent hotel located right in the old town of Rethymno. It was easy to explore the charming streets on foot, and the central bus station—perfect for day trips—was just a 10-minute walk away. The staff were incredibly friendly and eager to share local tips and recommendations, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast offered a classic continental selection, including fresh eggs, sausages, bread, pastries, and fruits. Everything was fresh and satisfying. While the swimming pool is on the smaller side, it was a lovely bonus and a great spot to cool off after a day of sightseeing. I would happily stay here again on my next visit to Rethymno.

Location was great, walking distance to beach, town, restaurants, bars and shops. Beautiful clean and spacious room with excellent hosts.

This hotel was amazing. One of my top 3 favorites in Crete. I highly recommend staying here. I only wish I stayed two nights here. Definitely worth it. Breakfast read included and an amazing selection. They even gave me a little gift when checking out. I would remove this to anyone coming to Crete.

Heel mooi hotel in oud pand. Rustig maar centraal gelegen. Aan de achterkant ook nog een poortje waar je naar binnen kon, ook handig. Prachtige kamers en heerlijk zwembad. Uitgebreid ontbijt met genoeg keuze.

Absolutely recommended! Archipelagos is a wonderful hotel with a great location and a beautiful sea view. Everything was very clean, the breakfast was very good, and the overall atmosphere was lovely. At the beginning, we had a few small issues with the room, but we spoke with the reception and they quickly helped us by changing the room. We really appreciated their support and professionalism. We highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely come back. The view over the sea is truly amazing!

Breakfast was good, but sortiment of food wasn't explained, without captions, and cook at eggs was very unpleasant.

Tout était plus que parfait. Nous avons eu un petit surclassement de chambre, un geste sympa. L’hôtel est bien situé, les chambres (appartement) sont grand, très propre et très bien équipés. Au 4ème étage aucun souci avec la route en contrebas. Idem avec la piscine qui est top. Bar à disposition la journée. Soirée barbecue chaque mercredi soir c’est très cool. TOUT le personnel est hyper gentil et compétent. Le SPA est parfait, Mariana est hyper attentionné et super pro. Super séjour au Macaris 👍👍

We stayed at May Hotel for two nights before flying back to Germany, and overall we had a pleasant stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated being allowed to check in early. We booked the half-board option, and both the breakfast and dinner were good. Breakfast offered a nice variety of choices, and dinner was tasty with enough selection. The room was clean, and the beds were very comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep. The hotel also has a gym with enough equipment for a basic workout, which was a nice bonus during our stay. The hotel itself is comfortable, although the rooms and facilities feel a bit outdated and could benefit from some renovation. The location is also not the most convenient, as there is no direct beach access—you’ll need to walk a few minutes to reach the beach. Overall, it’s a good value for money with excellent service, comfortable rooms, decent food, and useful amenities. With some modernization and a more convenient beach location, it would easily be an even better stay.
