Nice, modern and new hotel in Kinosaki onsen with great hospitality from the hotel owner and his staff. I was welcomed by the owner at the door when I arrived, and they even prepared a beautiful greeting card on my arrival. Welcome drink was provided and the owner recommended good restaurants and provided the USP of each onsen in Kinosaki. The room is spacious, clean and new! I especially like the Japanese style of the hotel. Yutaka and 1-day onsen pass were provided for my stay. As the next day I had to move to another hotel, the owner very kindly helped me to transport my luggage to another hotel near the JR station. Overall, excellent stay, excellent people and excellent breakfast! :) Would love to visit Kinosaki onsen again and stay with Utsuroi Tsuchiya.

Service quality of the staffs are 10/10. All staffs are attentive and multi tasking, they are reception, cooks (breakfast) concierge and house keeping. We stayed for two nights in a quadruple room facing the river, huge size and comfortable beds. Night was quiet and dont hear any foot steps though it is a building erected on old structure. Breakfast is typical Japanese ryokan style breakfast of excellent presentation and quality. Recommended for couples with no children and nit suitable for elderly or disabled, need to climb up 3 storeys if stayingnin the 3rd flood. Location is 10/10, 10mins by foot to JR station and 20 mins walk to the ropeway with shops along the way. Highly recommended!

The hotel is a bit old but it is warm and cozy. The service is good. People is helpful and kind. A young gentleman, I think he is the owner, helps us take many pictures. There is an onsen just next to the hotel. It is very convenient. Of course, you can go to the others within few minutes walk. The food is Okay, traditional hotel style.

I'm very pleased with my stay in this ryokan. The staff speaks English quite well. Spacious rooms in traditional Japanese style with futons as beds and have a kotatsu. In-house onsen is on the level of great onsens of the town, with outdoor parts, which are most cozy that have the addition of cold water bath for contrast experience. The location is a little bit farther from the center and all onsen locations, but after 4p.m. you can take a ride on the shuttle minibus for free to a number of fixed locations. Free soda, tea and fruit ice in lounge area, massage chairs also free.

It takes some walk to the busy main road. But the shuttle service is good. The hotel and everything is new, the in house hot spring is also very nice but only a small soda machine at the hot spring area. Would be nice if there’s more selection of snacks/drinks post hot spring. Very nice dinner menu, detailed design and impressive presentation.

We had an unforgettable stay at Matsuya in Kinosaki. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The service was truly some of the best I’ve ever experienced—warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. A special shoutout to Cho, a new team member from Vietnam who is studying Japanese. She was incredibly kind and made our stay even more memorable. Our room was spotless, beautifully appointed, and offered such a cool and authentic traditional Japanese experience. The kaiseki dinner was incredible—relaxing, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. We had an early train and couldn’t stay for breakfast, but based on dinner alone, I’m sure it would have been amazing. At check-in, we were given yukatas and traditional sandals to wear around town, which made the whole visit even more special. The onsens were wonderfully relaxing, and the town itself was friendly, charming, and exactly what we hoped for. I highly recommend staying at Matsuya if you want to experience the absolute best of Japanese hospitality, culture, and relaxation. Truly a highlight of our trip. We are a LGBTQ+ traveling couple and felt very welcomed.

Прекрасно расположенный отель в тихом и уедененном месте. Доброжелательный персонал, который во всем помогает. У нас был номер с видом на сад с водопадом и возможностью выхода в сад. За это отдельное спасибо. По питанию: если берете завтраки и ужины, учитывайте, что время ужина - 2 часа, завтрака - 1 час. Это нужно понимать, если планируете день. Это питание в классическом японском стиле в ресторане отеля. Еда подается по очереди, все свежее и вкусное. Еды очень много. То есть ее так много, что это перебор как по мне. Ужин - это просто огромное количество еды. Рыба, крабы, закуски и тд. По отелю нам помогала девушка из Непала Kunvar Niruta, которая также нам помогала с питанием (рассказывала как и что правильно есть). По онсенам - есть приваты с фруктами и цветами (время пользования - 40 минут), которые можно забронировать раз в день, есть просто приваты, время пользования которыми не ограничено. Есть общественные бани. Также до станции ходит шатл-бас от отеля. Все в отеле хорошо, красиво, уютно, прикольно, аутентично, но вот короткий кран в умывальнике в номере, сильно неудобный, а так все отлично

Very nice Japanese hotel with good service and facilities (public hot spring bath where women and men are separate and several private hot spring baths that I recommend to book in advance). We also had an amazing massage in the hotel spa. The down side would be that the hotel doesn't offer western beds (only Japansese futons) and that the personnel doesn't speak very good English (but are very nice and are trying their best to help)

I've chosen this ryokan primarily because they had a good option for a solo traveler (that is, a fair price for one guest, not like in many ryokans where the price for one guest is about the same as for two). The ryokan itself appears somewhat aged, but feels very authentic and leaves a good impression. It has an onsen inside, but it's not a open-air (rotenburo), and is quite simple. Good to visit before going to bed or before the check-out, but can't compete with dedicated onsens in the town. Speaking of which, they give you a pass which allows you to visit any onsen around for free during your stay. My room had a bathroom and a shower inside, and the room itself was quite spacious. I also got a yukata of my size, with haori and sandals to wear outside. The service is great, there was a staff member skilled in English, who was very helpful and explained everything to me, so I could have a flawless experience of a ryokan. My option included a breakfast and a kaiseki dinner. They both were delicious and gracefully served, although had a bit too much for me to eat (but I kinda managed). Generally speaking, this ryokan looks like a decent option, including first-timers like myself, to have a great and authentic experience.

Great location within walking distance to all six hot springs. Hotel provides free voucher to 2 onsen. Typical family hotel with large room and basic facility. The breakfast and dinner are carefully prepared homemade food with very fresh ingredients (especially Crab)
