Moorlands

A wonderful place to stay and chill.....deep in the North Devon countryside, we were made to feel very much at home by Daisy and family. We were looked after with a personal touch and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend to all and sundry......and urge people to stay there if visiting this lovely area

Set within Exmoor National Park this beautifully kept hotel offers the most stunning views. Good size rooms, very comfortable & Spotlessly clean. Excellent location for touring North Devon. Amazing hosts.

We booked Moorlands after looking for a good central location to do three of the OS top 100 walks. All three walks were within half an hour drive. What an excellent choice. Moorlands is a beautiful house, pristine and amazingly well presented. The gardens around it are lovely and full of wildlife. The hosts clearly work hard to keep the house and gardens looking so well and nothing seemed to be a problem for them. One day we had a bottle of wine in the room and on our return from a day out our hosts had noticed and two wine glasses had appeared for us. Lovely breakfast cooked fresh to order, fast WiFi, easy parking, comfortable rooms and beds, excellent location and reasonable pricing. There is a pub/restaurant just a few minutes down the road if you need something in the evening, and Lynton is pretty much the same distance in the other direction. Highly recommended. On another note, our walks in Lynton/lynmouth, Bossington and Croyde were all spectacular. The scenery around there is breathtaking.

Booked a short break as wanted to visit relatives in the area and this was nearby. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a well stocked tea/coffee tray and the jar of locally made strawberry jam was a lovely touch. A good, plentiful, choice of hot food, cereals, fruit and pastries for breakfast meant you didn't really need to eat until later in the day. An added bonus was the guest fridge as it enabled us to buy and chill bottles of wine for the evenings, which could be taken either in the lounge or on the outside terrace, both lovely places to sit, read or chat to other guests. Desi and Mark have achieved a lovely, welcoming, home from home feel, with nothing too much trouble. The Lynton and Barnstaple narrow gauge railway at the bottom of the garden is well worth a trip on and the cakes in the tea room were outstanding. Would highly recommend this as somewhere to unwind and take in the peace and quiet

Charming country hotel set in attractive grounds. We enjoyed a couple of nights here for a trail running event. This is a very well-run establishment with plenty of homely touches. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, breakfast is good (pastries outstanding) and there is an attractive traditional lounge downstairs for guests. All in all very good value - recommended.

Magical Moorlands, a tranquil hotel set on beautiful grounds, previously the station hotel. You can walk through the grounds to Woody Bay station have afternoon tea here or take a trip on the lovingly restored steam train. Beautiful bed linen, spotlessly clean and fantastic breakfast with wonder views. The hosts are charming, and let you drink your own wine and provide a fridge to store it in. Thank you a wonderful mini break.
