Peckforton Castle

Food a little disappointing at breakfast especially continental. Nice staff throughout hotel. Fabulous room and setting.

Wow! How picturesque. I was blown away when i saw the castle. I have never joined trip advisor but felt i had to after reading some of the recent reviews. I loved it from check in to check out. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and the building itself is something else. The small herb garden really made our day. We spoke to the gardener there and he was telling us how they grow everything from the kitchen. I got chatting to the manager who told us stories how he lived there during lockdown. He told us a tale or two. Made us feel very welcome as did all the staff. We have already booked our next visit for November, cannot wait for the scrumptious breakfast already.

Dont usually write reviews but after seeing a few bad one on here before i went i thought id share my experience... Its genuinely the best place we have ever stayed we do alot of groupon & wowcher deals and this one was our favourite what a stunning place, we loved everything about it, our room (bickerton suite) was the best massive comfy bed too. gorgeous bathroom the meal in the brassiere was beautiful we had prawns, steak & crem brulee. Great service. We went to the wine cellar for a drink it was stunning down there so relaxing The staff were so friendly and the full english breakfast in the 1851 restaurant this morning was beautiful 5* from me would definitely return the whole castle and grounds and experience was amazing

We often visit Peckforton Castle for a quick drink when passing. This time we were so disappointed. When we went to get some drinks the queue was big and only one member of staff, it took far too long and I felt sorry that she was under pressure. Lager choice was awful and no pint glasses were available for another couple who were ordering soft drinks. We sat outside and to be fair it’s all very picturesque except when you go to find a seat. The tables were filthy, leftover cups and glasses and a couple of cans of energy drinks and a random banana skin. The decking was covered in bird mess and the whole area felt incredibly unkempt. The staff didn’t collect anything or tidy up, just walked straight passed. I’m glad I wasn’t staying over as I would have been extremely disappointed. Poor show.

I booked an afternoon tea for my two best friends and myself at Christmas time. We were all very excited to go yesterday as we have a wedding coming up. We arrived at the castle and the setting was beautiful, we were truly impressed ... however, we were ushered into a small 'canteen style' room, no table cloths no flowers. I asked if we could go outside and was told yes to the courtyard, but no to the front gardens. We went into the yard and were shocked to find that it was obviously where the smokers go as there were ashtrays everywhere, dead ladybirds under the glass tabletops and weeds all over the place, even the outdoor lights had their bulbs all removed! We felt very disappointed, as nobody even came to ask us if everything was alright and nobody even asked us if we'd like more coffee! My top tips would be ... to put bulbs into all the festoon lights outside even to pretend that they work. Check on your customers .. are they enjoying themselves? Maybe flowers and a table cloth on the tables? Unfortunately Peckforton Castle was one of the choices for my daughters wedding, not now ... such a shame.

Came on a travelzoo deal, b&b and £30 towards evening meal. As you approach the castle it is really impressive, the courtyard is lovely, inside it is very dark but impressive, the staff were the loveliest most friendly we have met in a long time, especially in the 1851 restaurant. At lunchtime we ate in the brasillery, good and a fair price. Evening meal was a la carte in the 1851 restaurant. Excellent but expensive, our classic room was the only disappointment, small, dated with old tired furniture. But still definitely recommend

Recently returned from an amazing few days at Peckforton Castle, what a spectacular place to stay. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Food was first class and Tasha looked after us so well. She was very efficient, professional but so friendly too. Definitely helped give us an even better experience. Wine bar was open the whole time we were there and what a place to sit for a drink! Our room was very clean and a great space. Fantastic walks in the area and a great location for exploring the wider area. Would highly recommend if you want a break away from the norm in a magnificent setting and great people looking after you.

Came for afternoon tea for Father’s Day and it was lovely! Fab food, drinks and great service. Will defo come back. It’s such a lovely place with beautiful grounds and all the facilities are great. The afternoon tea is such good value and all very fresh and tasty. Will defo come back!!

Peckforton Castle We spent 2 nights – separate occasions - at Peckforton .We had wanted to go for a long time and we got a really good Deal through WOWCHER – DBB for the first trip and a good deal for the second .As a Travel Agent , I spend a lot of time looking at Hotels and here’s my honest review : When we arrived , we drove up the Road / Track and was met with a real WOW .What a place , its amazing .Really every girls dream to have a wedding in a real bona a fide Castle and the inside does not disappoint either .As you walk in there is a Suit of Armour and the Reception is very opulant with its beautiful Burgundy and Gold Wallpaper and Burgundy Armchairs .The Chandelier , just adds to the feel of the place . The Receptionist that greeted us , was lovely and very professional and she took the time to show us where the Cellar Bar was – which wasnt open the first time around . We then went to our room before going back to the Bar for a drink before Dinner .Our room The Bunbury – was amazing .The Bed was comfy and the 2 foot thick walls would have easily drowned out any outside noise , had there been any .The Bathroom was HUGE with a Claw foot Bath and a walk in Shower . We made our way to the Cellar Bar and had a glass Wine before Dinner .This Bar was round with tiny long narrow windows .When we arrived , there was only us and the Bar and it was a bit atmosphere-less .People did start to come in but I think as it becomes more popular , it will get better ? After the Bar , we went for Dinner at the Brasserie . The first time we stayed , we had Dinner at the 1851 Restaurant and it was really lovely .We had hoped the Brasserie would not disappoint which I am happy to say , did not with its old fashioned Stoves and antique Pots n Pans .The food was great and the Service , excellent . Breakfast next morning was at the 1851 and after an initial mix up , we were seated and served a Breakfast Fit for a King – in a Castle and it was thoroughly enjoyed . We had a seemless check out and away we went with a Bucket list check off under our belts – A stay in an authentic Castle . Downsides – As there’s always room for growth Not enough entertainment for Guests (those not attending a Wedding ) on an evening . Would we go back ? - never say never but we also want to try the other 2 Hotels that this group offer first . Thanks Peckforton and Mr Cropper for your Hospitality , we had a good time .
