Stayed here while travelling through Croatia. The accommodation was booked for us through Jetset and, having looked at the website and read reviews, we were quite excited to stay here as it looked beautiful. However, the reality was quite different! We arrived off the ferry and found the guest house quickly as it's very close to the ferry port. We'd been told there was no check in desk but we had given our time of arrival. After searching for a way in, we found a young girl who introduced herself as the owners daughter. She was very nice and sorted out WiFi, gave us our key and took us to the room and that was our first indication that the website wasn't giving the full picture. The room was tiny, with a double bed pushed up against a wall so that my husband had to climb over me to get out of bed. The bedside lamp was held together with duct tape. The wardrobe was a cheap clothes rail. The kitchen area consisted of a small fridge balanced on a drawer with a kettle on top. The table and chairs took up too much room and were far too uncomfortable to sit at. The hair dryer kept cutting out so it took 45 minutes to dry my hair. The outside terrace looked lovely from a distance.Close up, the tables were filthy with rings left from drinks and there was an overflowing ashtray there when we arrived and was still there when we left 3 days later. The website shows a restaurant, there isn't one. As the daughter was obviously just helping out, and seemed more interested in getting back to her friends, we didn't mention our disappointment but thought we'd bring it up with her parents. However, we didn't see or hear anyone apart from a few very young tourists who looked like they were on a gap year. The whole place had the feel of a backpackers hostel, ok if you're 18 but not when you're a middle aged couple! Mljet itself is absolutely stunning and we did have a great time there but the accommodation really let us down. We've now put in a complaint to Jetset. On a good note, the daughter did recommend a nearby restaurant, Melody, which was excellent and we had a 10% discount for staying at Matana.
