A reasonably nice hotel from a price-performance point of view. It looks like a place that "bit off more than it could chew" - a grandiose idea that turned out to be a bridge too far and it now being milked. It has kind of everything a hotel should have except atmosphere: one thing the pictures do not show is the location: it is literally 50-100 meters away from the Autostrada dell'Adriatico highway. With all windows closed you do not hear it. Sitting at the restaurants terrace for a drink however is out of the question because of the roaring noise. Pity, because it has a lovely little garden. The place is slightly understaffed and not all personnel is equally motivated. Amenities are/were great except that quite a number of them are outdated or lack maintenance - from the elevator to some of the faucets, from the bell boy's luggage cart (mind you - didn't see a bell boy, don't think they still have one, but the cart is there) to the dirty, worn down carpet in the first floor hallway above the wellness center and the broken electronic lock to enter that hallway from the stairs. We had a broken toilet to deal with and once reported, the problem did not go away during our remaining week's stay. We used the garbage bucket in the bathroom to flush. As said - some personnel seems to suffer from the state the hotel's business is in; bit at a loss, maybe. The guy serving breakfast was great. The maître D of the - for Marche's standards too expensive - evening restaurant was very nice and professional. The lady that alternated assisting both of them was not.... she did her work diligently but with an expression as if, whatever it is, is YOUR fault. She somehow reminded me of Marvin the Paranoid Android from Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Having said that - the good news is that, when I asked whether they had laundry service and ironing boards, the reception said no at first, but two days later left a nice little note in the room saying they would, after all, see to our laundry. By that time we had already bought an iron and had made an arrangement with a local lavanderia in town but still, a nice gesture. * Breakfast is nice, simple and abundant. * You get fresh towels and bathrobes every day, which to some may seem ecologically challenging, to others a delight. * You are at walking distance from the beach. Less than a kilometer. All in all, the hotel is on it's way down but can be saved, apart from it's unfortunate location. Would I come back? Guess I would, for a short business trip stay-over. Probably not for a week's vacation.
