It was our first time in Sicily and this hotel. First impressions were excellent, the location is amazing. Spectacular views and the hotel is luxurious. We had a suite on the 5th floor at the reception end of the hotel, we have noted other reviews complaining about noise, we had no problem with train noise or noise from anywhere. There were three weddings at the hotel whilst we were there and they did not affect us in any way. We had two dinners in the Nui restaurant and we can confirm it is excellent, very good food and excellent views from the dining room. We had lunch there a number of times outside by the sea which was very good however we found the portion sizes very big and we ended up sharing one dish between the two of us. On a personal note, on holiday we enjoy walking most days around the resort, unfortunately we found the position of the hotel was not conducive for this. Outside the hotel is a busy narrow road with no pavements, which can be quite dangerous. The hotel is on the waterfront, the vast majority of the shops good restaurants and places of interest are high above the hotel in the centre of Taormina, which is reached by a cable car or taxi. We used the cable car a lot of times both day and night to access the above. If you are using the hotel as a base to travel around the rest of Sicily we would suggest the hotel is perfect. If you wish to access the centre of Taormina regularly with all its delights be aware it costs 20 euro for return journeys for two and the inconvenience of it all. Many tourists and locals use this and often there are long queues. It costs 20 euro each way for a taxi. Nevertheless we still enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the views from the hotel are breathtaking.

Taormina City Center
The hotel is in an amazing position with fabulous views across to Etna and the Bay of Naxos. It is also in a great position for the centre of Taormina. It would be fair to describe the hotel as the ”grande dame” of Taormina due to its age. While the very traditional decor is appealing, there are a couple of areas which could be improved. As mentioned elsewhere, the lack of sufficient power outlets in the rooms is a big issue nowadays. Also while the bathroom is very modern, the design is poor with water running onto the floor and also having to clamber around the bidet made showing a challenge. However, the cleanliness couldn't be faulted and daily cleaning was excellent, with very friendly housekeeping staff. There are a lot of stairs in the hotel and there only seems to be a lift in one part of the building, which means the less mobile will still have to negotiate some stairs. The breakfast room is very busy with a wide range of options available. The pastries were spectacular. A couple of the staff seemed a bit miserable, but otherwise everyone was pleasant, especially Angelo who was a bit of a comedian and always made us smile. The only real negative about breakfast is that most of the coffee comes out of a machine and is not the best. Unforgivable in Italy! Luckily I was able to ask for a properly made coffee. The pool area is lovely and very peaceful, taking advantage of great views. It is a hike to and from the pool due to the clifftop location and the need for steps. We tended to spend the whole day by the pool, so only had to use the steps when travelling there and back. The team down by the pool were also pleasant. In fact Angelo was often working at the pool bar and always made us welcome as did his colleague Marius. The food from the pool bar was good quality, if not a bit idiosyncratic. The same dish was rarely presented in the same way, which was amusing. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again.

This hotel is an oasis. All the rooms face the sea, all have a private deck, and all are well appointed with large bathrooms with excellent water pressure. What amazed me was how quiet the hotel is. Taormina is a busy place, and it was lovely to walk back to a quiet, welcoming hotel. The hotel is situated at the bottom of a hill which really aids in the quiet and the view of the sea. It's a walk to the top of the street. But for anyone who is mobile it is very doable - and in my opinion so worth it for the benefits the hotel has. The breakfast is outstanding - tons of fresh Sicilian fruit, eggs made to order, a selection of pastries and fresh bread. Ivana who keeps the breakfast stocked and refreshed is so lovely, and made sure I had melon everyday. Fabio who works at the front desk had great dinner suggestions, and even made sure I didn't get lost (not easy with me). I could not imagine returning to Taromina and not staying here.

A beautiful setting with incredible views. The cave entrance onto the beach is amazing! The beach is pebbles. Crystal clear water. The complimentary shuttle to town is nice. You must request passes in the morning, for the time you would like to use the shuttle that day. It is confusing where to actually get on the shuttle, so be sure to ask at the desk. The property was once a grand establishment. It is tired and worn with need of a refurbish. The staff was nice at front desk. I contacted housekeeping one evening for extra coffee for the room and was told ”They have gone for the day.” Seems odd for a resort.
