Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel

Finch Bay was our last stop before heading back to the UK and provided a great location to rest up before our flight home. The hotel is served by its own private water taxis so access to Puerto Aroyo is very easy. The town itself is lively and inviting. The hotel is set back from a public beach along a winding path from the jetty and has a beautiful pool which the resident pintails took to like ducks to water, which is very appropriate really! It was great fun watching them and the lava gulls chase each other for dominance of the popcorn available from sunning tourists. The pintails had a routine of getting their corn, washing it in the freshwater pool to make it softer and guzzling it straight after. Alongside the pool, there’s a very well run cocktail and snacks bar which is a great place to spend your time. The grounds show off the volcanic nature of the terrain and you know the wild things- none of which are dangerous to humans- are near. In our 24 hours there, we saw a night heron, the aforesaid gulls and ducks, a snake, grey herons and egrets. Some of these we hadn’t seen anywhere on our cruise round the central islands. Breakfast was excellent as was the meal the night before. The room was a little on the small side but the bathroom was ace with a regenerative shower and plenty of unctions and soaps. The staff and GM in particular were extremely hospitable and prepared to engage with tips on what to do and where to go We loved it and would happily have spent longer.

Finch Bay Hotel is AMAZING!! We knew land based Galapagos is not what most opt for but I couldn’t have imagined anything better. First, the staff at the hotel is top notch. Every single person was kind, helpful and patient with us practicing our Spanish despite their fluency in English. I wish I could name everyone because they each deserve a mention. Second, the food for all meals that we had was absolutely delicious with excellent service. Third, the hotel itself is idyllic. Very pretty, comfortable rooms, suites bigger than rooms but all with same sized balconies with hammocks. Great pool and right at beach in protected cove. Fourth, travel to and from sounds daunting but was seamless, easy, friendly, timely. Water taxi is complimentary. Fifth but SO IMPORTANT, the Sea Lion Yacht trips through the hotel are incredible. The boat is comfortable, spacious, yet intimate. Guides provided depending on number of people. We were with Valentin for our boat trips as well as privately for two days on land. He was wonderful. We all miss him already. So kind, friendly, warm and informative. On the two other days we were with John (airport to hotel via lava tubes and highlands with manzanillo tortoise reserve) and on the Angelica boat with Edwin. Both also excellent guides of the same caliber as Valentin. Last but not least, the scenery, animal viewing and overall experience with Finch Bay cannot be topped. Best family vacation for 15-76 year old party of 5!! Thank you finch bay!

Well, we travel a lot in all types of travel styles and have a 13-year-old. We did two weeks in the Galapagos and stayed at Finch for 4 days. You can get lots of good feedback from the other reviews - the pool area at Finch is great and just like the pictures (on a sunny day). Having drinks and coffee out there was great. The rooms are clean and nice and the staff is super friendly. It all feels very safe and clean. For us, the big disappointment was the restaurant. Sorry to call it out but we ate there once and that was enough. All three meals were not good, not hot, not anything.. The breakfast buffet spread is large and you can find what you want but for dinner look outside the resort. We tried to be fair and maybe other people liked it - until we saw each night at dinner maybe had 2-3 groups eating there at most. The restaurant was basically empty. I believe the majority of people go into town for better food. In fact, there is a restaurant called "The Point" which is right next to Finch (you don't have to get on the boat) which has some of the best food in town. Go there for dinner.

We had the pleasure to stay at this fine resort before and after our diving liveaboard. Everything was just about perfect - the staff was so friendly and kind, the pool area was gorgeous and fantastic restaurant. We had two minor hiccups and I was so impressed on how they handled things as they really went the extra mile for us. Do not hesitate - this is by far the nicest hotel on Santa Cruz and worth every single penny. If we ever have the occasion to go back, we won't hesitate.

Thank you for making our last few days in Galapagos perfect. After a busy cruise, we chose the perfect place to relax before heading home. The hotel is beautiful. The pool are bar area is spacious and we loved relaxing there. Everything was spotless. The food was all of a very high standard, including breakfast. But what makes this hotel is the staff and service, which was simply outstanding. Highly recommend.

What an excellent place to stay in the Galapagos islands. The staff are the best I have seen in a hotel for a long while, the food is second to none and the extra care they gave me while I wasn't feeling well was exceptional. I had an infection (nothing to do with the hotel), they arranged a doctor within 30! They went and fetched the tablets I needed, arranged for us to stay an extra night, and contacted the next hotel and all the trips to rearrange them. Now that's exceptional service. Special mention to our waiter who had been at the hotel 25 years. His attention to detail, service and friendly nature made it a very relaxing stay.

Such a lovely hotel. Beautiful location with a safe warm lagoon beach and a lovely swimming pool. We loved the visiting birds and the resident ducks who did laps up and down the pool in the evenings. The rooms aren't huge but they are more than adequate with good storage and lovely bathroom. They are very comfortable and airy. The food and service were excellent. Friendly staff who all strive to make you as lazy as possible during your stay. Even the man who ferried us to the main town in the hotel water taxi pointed out constellations at night as we crossed the harbour. The location is perfect. Quiet and tucked away but 2 minutes in the water taxi to the bustling town. Jorge, Hilda and Wagner were all wonderful.

Nice hotel with a good swimming pool but we felt it was hugely overpriced for what it was. We did go over Easter so it was more expensive but the rooms felt basic and the service not up to scratch for the cost. Decent breakfast and lunch and dinner was very good. Boat service to Santa Cruz main island was also very efficient

Beautiful place to dive deep into the Island - close up with lots of animals - wonderful pool area - own beach for enjoyment and snorkeling - gear for free - nice rooms with very cosy bedding - good breakfast - a place to feel completely free of sorrows
