Lmbk Surf Camp - Hostel

LMBK surf house as a place is absolutely beautiful. A nice space to relax after surf, and chill out with the other surfers. Such a lovely vibe! The best place for surf I stayed in so far. The dorm rooms are also very spacious, and the beds really comfortable. The team is so friendly and warm, and you feel right at home. The man at the breakfast table was SO nice, shout out to him! Gorgeous breakfast and coffees too. I had such a great time! In terms of surf lessons, I was a little disappointed. Our teachers Saban and Adul were not having their week (a little sick/moody), and as I only stayed 4 days this impacted the whole experience unfortunately. The first 3 days, we didn't receive any feedback, only got pushed into the waves, and told ''to relax'' and also ''hurry'' in quite an irritated way. This really put a damper on things, especially as we heard the other groups were so happy with their teachers and feedback. I felt as though we really pulled the shortest string. On top of that, even though we all had to explain what level we were on and what we wanted to learn that week, this was not focused on during the surf at all. I was put in a beginners group and was treated as such, and as a result I didn't much improve (especially as the teachers didn't seem happy to be teaching a beginner's group). The surf briefing on the first day was done super rushed (luckily I've had many of these before, but this could be very overwhelming for first-timers), and we didn't get a warm up or practice dry pop up before any of the surf- this could be improved. I only learned on the last day how I could improve my stance (by a new teacher Padri, who was much more enthusiastic) which was a small change but helped a lot, unfortunately by that time it was too late for me to put into practice. The photo analysis was good, but it would be better if we went through that a bit less rushed and would be the focus of the lessons the next day. I appreciate the instructors work a lot and can't always have their best day. However, we do pay a lot for this surf house, so that we can expect good training and not just get pushed into the waves (especially as I wanted to learn to read the waves). This all is said with love and genuine constructive feedback to improve on- I hope it's taken like that!

Such a well run and fun surf camp for a group or friends, solo travellers or anyone looking to improve their surfing. Staff were all incredibly helpful, allowing us to try different boards and mix up groups so our group of 10 could surf with each other. The coaches offered great advice so I can confidently say my surfing improved within the week. The location of the villa, the facilities, the surfboard selection and the food were all fabulous. We can’t wait to come back!

Firstly, on the usuals. Location is excellent, super centrally placed so everything is walking distance but at the same time, inside enough to be relatively quiet despite being at the center. Quality of lodging is great— clean, comfortable and good size ( I stayed at the Mawi and Seger rooms, private). Brekkie was delicious (thanks chef Randy!) and included in the package. On surf related stuff, I appreciated how they asked us to really write down our surf goals and grouped us accordingly. I felt it kept me committed to the learning process (which is the main purpose here!). The surf coaches were also great at giving me specific feedback in and out of the water, and I’m very thankful for that. Dana, Saban, Win, Badri, Pijay, Izam, Awan, Adul are the ones whom I surfed with-- thank you so much for always keeping an eye out for me!! I didn’t get to surf as much with the rest, but they would always be kind and warm whenever we bumped into each other. On the program, they have 3 days where you do a double session. So if all out surfing is something you like (like me haha), then this is for you. If you want something chiller, you may choose to opt out of the second surf sessions on those days. Front House was absolutely wonderful— Rizka, Nuuk, Tommi, thank you for being so responsive and helpful from inquiry to check out! Made a huge difference that you were patient with all my questions. :D Thank you as well to the entire staff— Tracy, Ode, and the rest ( I wish I could remember everyone’s names!!)— for keeping LMBK in tiptop shape and being so welcoming with us. Kudos to Maddy and Andrew for putting together a wonderful team, keep it up!! Side note: I was there during dry season so only a few spots were working — meaning busy lineups mostly everywhere. Perhaps as an iteration on the program, there could be nuanced tips/guidance on how specifically to manage a busy line up and avoid injury to oneself and others (in addition to the basics of surfing etiquette like no dropping in/no snaking, etc.).

LMBK Surf House is amazing! We did the one week surf and stay package which is excellent value. Our main goal was to improve our surfing which we definitely accomplished with the help of their excellent instructors. There is a maximum of two students for every instructor, so you will get plenty of coaching regardless of your level. You will get to surf at a few different breaks in the area, which each have different characteristics. And there is photo/video analysis which is very helpful (especially if you are in the beginner/intermediate groups). The accommodation is clean and comfortable. You can relax in your bungalow or by the pool. Rooms are serviced daily and the staff are very helpful and can arrange pretty much anything you need. The location is good too, right on the Main Street of Kuta so it’s walking distance to lots of restaurants, bars, shops, and spas. And finally, the atmosphere of LMBK is excellent too. It has a very relaxed vibe which fosters a lot of fun times with the other guests. Sipping a cold Bintang or kombucha from the fridge and having a chat with your fellow guests about their surf sessions is a great way to pass the evening. Honestly, our week at LMBK was one of our favourite travel experiences anywhere in the world! If you’re looking for a surf camp in Indonesia, you really can’t go past LMBK Surf House.

The accommodation is modern and comfortable, located at the heart of town. Kind and open staff and guests, great and knowledgeable guides, board selection and all around vibes! I had my best waves thanks to this crew! Coming back soon!
