Hotel Diamond Palace

Don't know where to start, I have not reviewed any hotel till date with this heavy heart. We travelled as family to have Puri Jagannath Temple visit and decided to stay at this hotel as I stayed here earlier as well 9 years back and based on that I chose to have repeat stay. However, before I start let me share the Pro's. Pro's:- - AC is effective in the room. - Accessibility from the beach (walkable distance) - Walkable distance from Restaurants, Marine Drive Beach center point - Can get the transport vehicles (Auto, cars) from the outside of the hotel. Con's:- - Since 9 years, the hotel has not undergone renovations, it looks pathetic from inside the room. The room condition is below average. Earlier we stayed in regular room it was amazing; this time i decided to have AC rooms (2 rooms we had). Dirty bedsheets with torn parts, rooms were not cleaned unless giving repeated reminders, furniture is damaged inside the room. It was just a blow to me as I spent a huge amount for 3 nights and unfortunately it was non-refundable. I had to repeated request the reception gentleman to clean the room or change the bedsheets. - Cleanliness: Absolutely hopeless. people in ordinary dress comes to room for cleaning; cant even understand whether they are the hotel staff or someone else pretending to be the cleaning staff. - Restaurant: below average although the taste of food is good. It seems they are planning to go for renovation. food bill posting to the room doesn't happen; need to pay them directly. Moreover, the food is costlier than the same food available in nearby standalone restaurants. The restaurant doesn't have appeal to serve food. People not in uniform, which creates doubt on food making process as well. - Value for money - total loss of satisfaction, hygiene, and comfort. The list could go on; however I had a terrible experience for the amount i spent for 2 rooms in 3 nights, it was a lesson that not to get influenced by the website pictures; it's mirage. I have never had such hopeless experience even till my life. Will never choose this place in the future nor will I suggest to my friends and relatives.
