Our stay at the Desert Moon Hotel in Giza, Egypt, was nothing short of a nightmare. We were lured in by our travel agent’s package, and it turned out to be a complete scam. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made a terrible mistake. The entry area was horrifying — broken, rusty gates led us to a filthy, crumbling building surrounded by dilapidated structures. It didn’t even resemble a proper hotel. The so-called hotel was crammed inside a multi-story apartment building filled with similar shady accommodations. There was NO reception area, NO ledger to track guests, and absolutely NO security — a major concern for anyone traveling with valuables or family. To make matters worse, people were actually cooking under the staircase using a plastic sheet for cover, which filled the entire area with unbearable smells. The staircase itself was disgusting — grimy, smelly, and unfinished, resembling an abandoned construction site. The room conditions were just as appalling. There were NO room heaters, NO geysers for hot showers, and the water pressure was pitiful. Taking a shower felt like torture. Breakfast was an absolute disaster — stale, cold, and practically inedible. Even worse, there was no staff to complain to, no one to care about guests’ concerns, and no one taking responsibility for the pathetic state of this so-called hotel. To top it off, the glowing reviews we had seen online turned out to be utterly misleading, making us feel trapped and scammed by our travel agent. This place is an absolute disgrace, and I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. DO NOT stay at Desert Moon Hotel unless you’re prepared for a horrible experience. We left feeling furious, frustrated, and completely cheated.
