Overall the hotel location and food is fine. Service is not very friendly though…. Coffee corner ran out of water, coffee and hot water. The front desk lady was quite helpful when I have enquiries.

Fasadnya sangat kecil, hampir tiada fasad, sebaik sahaja anda memasuki pintu terdapat tangga.
Di tingkat dua terdapat bar dan restoran, di mana anda boleh makan, dan kaunter penerimaan tetamu juga ada di sana. Bagasi boleh disimpan secara percuma di tingkat dua, tetapi ia adalah kotak penyimpanan di ruang tamu tanpa kunci. Mungkin bos fikir tiada siapa yang akan mengambilnya.

This one is somewhat tough to review. Service was 1-star. We received no instructions to enter and had to spend a fair amount of time on the phone (at costly international rates) to receive instructions. The instructions we received were not detailed enough. They did not mention entering through the restaurant to get to the first-floor rooms. Rooms on the second floor do not have to do this. The room itself was okay to decent. The kitchenette was nice, but the dishes were in the dishwasher when we arrived. The room lacked commonplace security features like an interior deadbolt, security chain, or a peephole. Combined with the strange way to enter the ”hotel” this made us feel uneasy. The fact that this hotel is not staffed and entry is through code would have been fine if detailed instructions were provided. Plenty of AirBnBs do this well. For the price, this would be much better value if they had better customer service and detailed instructions along with some additional security features. As it is I wouldn't recommend.

The hostel was clean and warm, the rooms were well laid out, with a safe for each person. It's such an odd looking building, but that's definitely part of the charm! The large kitchen/common area looks cool both from within and from the street looking up at it: the huge windows, and the warm coloured, up-lit walls make it so cosy! The hostel is spitting distance from Hallgrimskirkja, you can see it from the common room windows. This means you're in the heart of the city - great if you have no transport! It does mean you're in the heart of the tourist traps too... so any shop nearby (with the exception of Kronan stores) will be more expensive than those further afield. The staff leave you to do your own thing, the cleaners are all super friendly, the showers are always hot, and in decent condition. It really exceeded my expectations. I might have wished for an onsite bar or cafe for socializing, but everything is so expensive in Iceland that I was glad of the lack of temptation! And if you do need that sort of diversion, the B47 Hostel, which occupies the lower floors of the same building, has something like that. I'm sure it would have been okay to use it.

If possible avoid the rooms at the front as the buses come and go all night so was regularly woken. Bed was clean and comfortable, everywhere except the twin rooms appeared to be bunks. There are far too many rooms and people for the size of the kitchen, which by the way was pretty revolting and very hot. No room in the fridge to store stuff, bring your own knives, forks, spoons, glasses and mugs. However there were plenty of saucepans and frying pans, plates and bowls (people were reduced to drinking tea from the cereal bowls) Reported this to reception but no one appeared to care and nothing improved during our stay accept for a bottle of washing up liquid appearing. Number of bathrooms was just about adequate, they were cleaned but depending on the users did get pretty disgusting at times. Locks on them were hit or miss. Bar area was nice enough, but not cosy or welcoming, no food available just crisps and vending machine. Walk to town was about 20 minutes and seemed safe. I have nothing in the area to compare this to as didn't stay anywhere else, but wouldn't really recommend.

The guesthouse itself was nice enough. Note that if you stay in one of the economy rooms, you will only have access to one bathroom per 5 rooms (unless you are willing to walk back to the main house and use one of the bathrooms there). This was not an issue during my stay, but I woke up super early to avoid it becoming an issue. The real issue for me was the lack of communication. I ended up needing to spend an extra 50 dollars on long distance calls because this business failed to check their email or Facebook messages. On top of that, I had to call twice because I was given incorrect information the first time. Note that booking this property is a risk if you book through a third party (Expedia etc) because you may not receive the email with instructions on how to check in (this is why I had to call repeatedly after they failed to answer my emails).

My wife and I recently spent a very pleasant 5 nights at this hotel. It is nicely situated in the marina area slightly away from the city centre, but still with many local restaurants. Our room (on the top floor as specifically requested) was small but perfectly formed with an excellent view over the Marina. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was powerful and the the wi-fi was excellent. The room had all we needed, really, apart from, perhaps, some drawers for clothing. There was space on some open shelves but we prefer to have our clothes 'put away' and not on show. We had no problem with noise entering our room either from the outside or from neighbouring rooms. We took breakfast on a couple of occasions and it was a decent buffet affair, albeit pricey. The hotel staff were friendly, welcoming, polite and very helpful in arranging excursions and advising on things to do in Iceland. We didn't take dinner in the hotel, but we did find an excellent gastropub literally over the road from the hotel.

Me and my two lads stayed for 3 nights and arrived very early due to travelling overnight. Tanya made us feel welcomed and managed to get us our 1 room to stay in until the other 2 rooms were available. This was extremely needed and we are greatly thankful. Each room was clean and comfortable with 2 of the rooms having kitchenettes which came in handy for drinks and snacks. We used a restaurant just over the road from the hotel which had an added bonus of 10% off if you showed your room key. Breakfast was small and basic but there was something there for us to eat. Overall a great hotel with a good bus service and staff. Anna was very prompt in answering emails and any questions.

This is a good option if you don’t want to stay in Reykjavík centre and just a few minutes drive out, but in a very secluded location through an upmarket residential area and down on a little peninsula on its own. It is so quiet. There are cosy basic rooms or superior rooms. I’d booked a standard triple room and when we arrived we found it was under the rooftop hot tub and sauna and feared noise so we called the number given for assistance and requested a room change. We had to upgrade however are so glad we did as the superior room had a sea view and was so much bigger. It was organised within minutes and extra bedding bought over for the sofa bed and we paid the additional cost over the phone. Great service thank you. I would definitely recommend the superior room, however we didn’t hear any noise fr the hot tub at all so I think people are very respectful. It’s a really quirky quiet place without any service such as reception bar breakfast etc but would happily stay again. Got a great sunset view and I imagine if Aurora played ball it would be stunning here. There is no check in, rooms are left unlocked so it’s very easy.

Nice chocolate offered on check in but just slapped into my hand! 2 x bottles of water offered again just dumped into my hand no here we are complementary snacks and water on behalf of Canopy Hilton … I found this level of service not good. Set backs: Diamond member - remember a serious amount of money spent at Hilton brand hotels and extreme loyalty to the Hilton brand - No upgrade offered, but suites still Showing on Hilton app for entire stay and on booking.com Canopy Hilton might have shown the same commitment back to top tier members loyalty and in-fact a poor attitude and extremely lacking in customer service on front desk I would say 8/10 times during stay. No milk for L’OR coffee machine only creamer!! No milk for tea in room Poor bathroom amenities no shower cap, no toothbrushes, no razors etc had to ask not great! Housekeeping said they had none … asked at front desk and the Hilton colleague opened a draw full of amenities!!! Making guests go down to reception to beg instead of just providing in room!!! Demonstrates Poor customer service. Then to be told we may not have orange socks or shower caps we may have run out … surely at a top rated brand hotel there is stock take and orders are placed in a timely fashion! Not impressive from Canopy Hilton at all. No orange socks in room, but left bathrobes again poor customer service. No welcome to Canopy Hilton thank you for being a diamond member …. Again poor customer service not recognizing loyalty. No executive lounge - no drinks vouchers given to diamond members as in other Hiltons - seems mean and lacking in customer service. All in all as a diamond member felt a little let down after really looking forward to my trip especially at this brand of Hilton in a great location. Feels run by people who either haven’t been trained adequately, they have no commitment to the Hilton brand or simply just have no idea about hospitality.

The reception desk is exceptionally helpful, and the restaurant staff, particularly during breakfast, are outstanding. Wish the breakfast had more hot food variety and also better coffee options (only had filter coffee), neverthless still a great breakfast spread.The hotel comprises a modern half and an older section, but both segments provide all necessary amenities. Easy access to taxis and the nearby bus stop, which is ideal for convenient Iceland tour pick-ups. Overall, a comfortable stay with excellent service and accessibility.

That being said it is a very expensive hotel even for Icelandic standards. So let me start with the highlights of this hotel: - Very comfortable and great materials condition. - AC with individual room adjustable temperature is a great plus for Iceland. - I got the basic room and it felt big enough, modern and super clean. The bathroom was also big but there was no bathtub unfortunately. Great comfortable bed and sheets. - Le Labo bath products are truly amazing. One of the best I ever tried! I also appreciated that for ecologic reasons they weren't in non reusable small plastic bottles. - The rooms are silent and relaxing. I would change the black TV furniture as black always highlight the dust on it.. even when the room is nicely cleaned. - The breakfast is big and overall with good quality. But daily variation should be bigger. - The location is perfect to stroll along the shops and walking distance to the most important city spots. - The spa is beautiful and very interesting. Probably the most well designed small spa in a city hotel I have ever seen. Complimentary use of the spa is a very nice touch indeed. Although it was a really good expericence in no way this was a perfect stay specially when the price tag is considered: - The hall and corridors cleaning left too much to be desirable. At least at 3rd floor corridor there was dust, earth and stains that remained for the whole 3 night stay. It is strange as the rooms are really well cleaned (maybe it's a different team? maybe someone forgot that the corridors are also to be cleaned?). - The reception. It is always busy and sometimes feels chaotic at the proper hotel entrance. I also felt that some guest were treated differently and with more care. I got no welcome drink or even the suggestion to leave the bags. That's ok for me but then I realized the guest next to me was immediately offered all of this. I mean.. consistency is important at this level. - Hidden fees. Ok maybe it was a misunderstanding but when we arrived we were told that the hotel had valet parking only. But nobody told us the extortion each night of it. At the chekout there it was though. Also in the breakfast there was no specific tag with the champagne price but after I filled a glass with it a waiter quickly send me the bill to sign. I mean it is very bad to mix not included stuff in the buffet. Also every egg besides the scramble had a price tag. I mean for almost 700 euros a night is it reasonable to charge for a egg toast?. - The room curtains. Beautifull but totally off for iceland summer status (2-3hours of darkness). Light comes in in every curtain fold so it is impossible to cover it. Every night I woke up several times due to too much outdoor light in the rooms. This should be quickly addressed. It honestly really bothered me. - The spa only opens at 12h00 meaning you cannot use it

PPengguna TetamuGuesthouse Sunna is in a wonderful location, almost in the center of the city. The property is clean and well tended. Breakfast items were ample and good tasting. My major complaint is about the reservation process. The room is a ”Twin” with two beds. When I arrived with my daughter I had to pay an additional $45. The woman at the desk told me that I had to register my daughter in the initial reservation. I remember seeing no way to do that. As a result, I assumed that a twin room with two beds would allow me to include my daughter in the reservation. I don't understand why a Twin room with two beds can't accommodate two people.

PPengguna TetamuWe visited friends in Iceland and spent 2 nights at the Holt Hotel at the start of our visit. Staff was fantastic,warm and friendly. Hotel is on the older side, but location is fantastic and it’s been well maintained. We enjoyed the unique art and older feel, but if you want sleek and modern this is not your place. The room was small compared to America, but completely functionable. Traditional breakfast especially the pastries were amazing. We have no complaints and thought we got a great deal.

TTeacher HarryLayout of room was kind of strange. The bed is on a weird platform that might be difficult to navigate for less agile people, or those who are sleepy or otherwise impaired. Bathroom was overly small.
It has a kitchenette, but no microwave. The location is in the heart of the most touristy part of Reykjavik.
This is the third hotel I’ve stayed in while traveling to Reykjavik. The others, both lower priced, were not afflicted with the smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) in the water. It is possible to filter this out, and a person paying the price this hotel is asking should be able to expect better quality water.
If you want to be in the thick of the tourist action and don’t mind smelly water, this place is OK. Otherwise…

PPengguna TetamuWe stayed here for one night when we first arrived in Iceland, and for another one night stay just before we left Iceland a week later! So I can honestly say that we would go back, in fact, we *did* happily go back! The hostel is clean and comfy and the staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Late check-in for one of our visits was super easy too. They do a breakfast with a good range of nice food - continental breakfast style. The rooms are maybe a bit variable - one night we were in a basement twin room that was quite basic, but the other night we were in a beautiful studio room. The hostel has several buildings on the same street, so I suppose it’s just luck of the draw which is available when you book, but both of them were clean and comfy, so no complaints. I’d also say the price was good value - obviously Reykjavik is generally quite expensive but I couldn’t find a better deal than this. The location was great too, on a quiet street just a few minutes walk into the centre of the touristy area in Reykjavik.

PPengguna TetamuAfter the hotel we booked, Reykjavík Downtown Hotel, was closed due to human trafficking, we had to quickly rebook a hotel, just two weeks before our trip. We booked Hotel Aska as the price was reasonable, and it looked like a very nice hotel (yes, the photos are accurate!). There were many great things about the hotel: 1) The staff were fantastic and very helpful when we had various issues, such as our room flooding (more about that later) and panicking when our bus to the hotel didn't show up. Also, to our surprise, when we arrived at 8am, the employee working that morning was able to find an available room so we could check in immediately -- I was not expecting to be checked in until that afternoon. We really appreciated that. Five stars for the staff! 2) The rooms were clean and a reasonable size. 3) There was a fridge and a kettle in the room (but no microwave). 4) Very comfortable bed with excellent pillows, and I loved how there were two single duvets for the double bed (at home, my husband and I each sleep with our own duvet). 5) A quiet location, and an easy 20 minute walk to downtown. There's also a grocery store a block away. 6) Good WiFi Now the cons: The shower stall (at least in room 304) didn't have a shower door, and the glass wall did not extend far enough, so water would get all over the bathroom floor. Extremely poor design. On our first morning (second day) at the hotel, I took a 15 minute shower, and when I got out, the bathroom floor was flooded and there was no drain, so I was kicking as much water as I could back into the shower stall. I then opened the bathroom door and saw that our hotel room had also flooded! It was a huge hassle having to move rooms but thankfully the staff were helpful and able to move us immediately. We were moved to room 401 and the shower had a proper door that fully closed and there was no further flooding. Despite the flooding, I would give the hotel four stars, but the reason for the two stars (and it's only two stars because of the staff, or I would give it one star) is that I was not able to get a good night's sleep the entire duration of my trip (three nights). The room was too hot, and despite turning off the heat and having the windows open the entire time, it was sweltering. And in room 401, the WiFi router or something was behind the flatscreen TV, and the entire wall lit up with flashing lights from all the electronics. I had to stuff towels over the lights to try and dim them. Aska is a lovely hotel, but if you can't sleep in hot rooms with flashing lights, I would suggest elsewhere.

PPengguna TetamuI don't usually post negative review but I am annoyed about this one. I booked 4 rooms in December 2022 through booking.com. I booked a refundable rate which allowed me to cancel by February 5th 2023. Our plans changed in January and I wanted to cancel. I was able to cancel this in booking.com for free. Key word here being free!! The confirmation from booking.com said there would be no charge. Just under 2 weeks after cancelling I had still not received a refund. I emailed the property and heard nothing back. I chased up again and received a reply with a copy and paste of a policy which is NOT specified on booking.com. ”Groups: when booking 3 apartments or more we require a 30% non-refundable pre-payment of the total amount 8 weeks prior to arrival. The remaining amount is charged 15 days prior to arriving day and is non-refundable. Group bookings can be cancelled within 48-hours of making the reservation if the terms are not acceptable.” Booking.com only says ”When booking more than 3 rooms, different policies and additional supplements may apply.” No mention of the above policy and specifying ”may apply” indicates that somewhere along the booking process I will be notified of this policy if it applies to my booking. Indeed, I find out later on, this is in the email confirmation. Not when booking the rooms. This is misleading and putting customers at risk of losing money, as I have. After some emailing back and forth with the property and me stating that booking.com cancelled my booking without any charge, I should be entitled to a full refund, I was informed that I would still not get a full refund and they would keep 30%. Booking.com allowed my to cancel for free. If this is not the case then it should have warned me that I will incur a charge for cancelling. This policy needs to be clear and up front before a customer makes a booking. Due to this confusion, I am now out of pocket by 194 euros, annoyed and would not recommend until they specify the exact policies of making a booking with them upfront. Not hidden in emails after making a booking. What you see is what you should get. Not have added on extras after. Having booked other properties around Iceland through booking.com their fine print and policies are clear and you know exactly what you are committing too.
