This is a perfectly okay hotel recently well situated in a pretty safe area of Rio. It falls down in a number of areas non critical perhaps still taking away from the enjoyment and appreciation one might have. The bar and lounge area are very small poorly attended and very badly stocked. This means the to get a beer or a coffee or a drink after work you are taking pot look. Of course there are plenty of restaurants etc including some nearby but sometimes it's nice to be able to get something sitting in the lounge of the hotel. A little bit of investment into a proper bar set up properly staffed and stocked would play dividends as would increasing the amount of seating and its quality. There is no spa , any form of beauty or relaxation treatment. The breakfast was okay but the number of coffee machines is grossly inadequate for the number of people at peak hours. Positive side the staff were courteous and helpful and pleasant throughout the hotel was reasonably clean although it could do as little bit of freshening up and it generally felt safe
Novotel Rio de Janeiro Leme

Hotel was situated in Leme area very near the Leme Fort. For some reason, the hotel does not have a sheltered porch for alighting, but this seems to be a common thing across many hotels in the area. It is a quieter area compared to copacabana, which is honestly just nearby. Doesn’t feel unsafe at night and the receptionist is generally helpful. However room turn over service is quite inconsistent. Some days only the bed is made and there doesn’t seem to be any new towels added, but overall it’s a pleasant experience.
Novotel RJ Santos Dumont

Excellent stay at the Novotel RJ Santos Dumont. The hotel staff was great. Very friendly, efficient, and professional. The hotel was clean, quiet, and well-maintained. The fitness center was well-equipped and available 24/7. I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant, so cannot comment on that aspect of the hotel. As the name implies, the hotel is convenient for Santos Dumont Airport. It is a fairly easy 5 minute walk from the hotel, mainly on a pedestrian bridge above a busy road. It is also about a 10 minute walk from the Rio Metro. The only negative, and not the hotel's fault, is that this part of Rio has a problem with homelessness and is fairly deserted after dark and on weekends. So, it might not be the best area to walk around at night. Again, not the hotel's fault, and it does have good security, but certainly a part of your stay.

Wonderful staff who allowed us to have a later check out for our flight. Super comfortable and lovely rooms. Swimming pool was lovely with the hot sun and the showers were amazing. There was a fire alarm in the middle of the night but the staff were really helpful and sorted it quickly and efficiently.

Tive um problema no apartamento , a descarga/vaso sanitário não estava funcionando , sem água. Fiz duas solicitações na recepção para solucionarem o problema, mas não resolveram, nem deram retorno. Tive que utilizar o banheiro do térreo. Isso é inadmissível para um hotel desse porte. Att Daniel Heidi

I booked this Novotel based on the proximity to RioCentro where Web Summit took place. It had excellent TripAdvisor reviews too. Unfortunately, very basic hotel, with less than exciting location in the area of Rio that is not good either. The service was quite indifferent too, my Platinum status wasn't even acknowledged, I was told that the water in the room wasn't free either. I always get water bottles and Platinum amenity. The only bright spot was front desk representative Beatrice who tried hard to make our stay pleasant. The cost was reasonable too.The room looked old and dated, with mildew and mold, and it smelled of smoke. The room keys didn't work on several occasions. The breakfast was barely edible. All in all, I won't stay there again, and don't recommend this hoteL. Stayed in many Novotel hotels in the world, much better experience. Also, stayed in 2 other Accor hotels in Rio: Fairmont and Mercure, much better experience too. This hotel is listed as #1 hotel in Rio on Trip Advisor, this is straight up lie, alas! Not sure whether it is based on ”old” experiences and stays, or made up reviews.
