After booking online, I drove with my 2 children under the age of 2 hoping to get them out of the car finally to a room and the manager told me they do not give rooms to locals within 60 miles. I told her we was there because my mom, who is a Marine veteran, was going to the Salem VA for cancer treatments but she didn’t care. I’m not sure why they couldn’t call me before then since I booked the room weeks ahead of time. I brought my babies in so they could get out of the car since they had been sitting in it for over 2 hours, to call my mom to relocate and she proceeded to tell us she was calling the law. They have rented to me several times before when I would pay for my mom to stay there or even when I came with her. When I asked about a refund, she said I would have to contact the third party administrator. We are a family of 4 and both my husband and I work hard so we depend on that $560 and can’t wait for whatever process that is! Especially since I have to spend more to go somewhere else. So after going 5 miles down the road and getting a room with no problem, I googled the distance and I live 82 miles from there. So not only did she lie, but I still don’t know when or if I will get my money back.

The service was great. A little disappointed with the breakfast. There was a little smell of mildew in the room. Turned off the heater and it was better. Beds were very comfortable. Wanted to take it home with me.

This stay was caused by a relative's hospital stay which extended multiple times for 3 weeks total. The hospital shares a parking lot so it is very easy to walk to. Due to the ER visit I arrived with no toiletries which were supplied at the desk. Then, there were multiple extensions needed to my stay, which Melissa at the front desk handled professionally - she was outstanding. The breakfast area was kept supplied 100% of the time, the first time ever staying at hotels, so those ladies are also exemplary. The lobby has plenty of seats and tables for use (outside of the breakfast room).

Our family spent a week at this hotel. They were definitely short staffed. The staff that was there worked diligently to get people in & keep them happy. There appeared to only be 1 cook in the back. She was hustling. There were far too many people to feed with just 1 person. The front desk definitely had very long lines. But they were friendly & did their best to make our stay comfortable. The elevator had issues & would often go out of service. My kids loved the pool. My 5 year old even learned to swim in that pool. It is rather loud inside almost deafening when too many kids are inside. I would often use my AirPods to cancel out some of the noise. The sound just travels & echoes inside the pool area. I would even try to remind my kids “inside voices” but it’s still loud. We spilt our trip up and traveled to Williamsburg for the 4th of July. The hotel there was unsafe, dirty & needed an update severely. After traveling back to this hotel we definitely felt more comfortable and appreciated everything more once we came back. The slight issues we encountered were nothing in the grand scale of things. I felt safe to walk with just my children alone. Which is something I didn’t feel when staying elsewhere. The rooms were clean & smelled lovely. Overall I definitely would go back.

We stayed here 2 nights under two different reservations as we didn't know we'd be in town the 2nd night. The first night, room 125, was pleasant enough. Lacked a little in the way of cleanliness but you could tell there had been an attempt to clean it. Second night, room 101, really lacked in cleanliness. Old coffee still in the coffee pot, pretty sure dried nasal mucus on the bathroom wall, pee spots on the floor in front of the toilet. The heat in 101 was temperamental, we either roasted at 71 or froze at 70. Breakfast was okay enough for us, yogurt, banana, waffle. There is a Hardees, McDonald's, and Starbucks within walking distance. To end on a good note, all the employees we encountered during check-in and check-out were extremely friendly and welcoming. We would stay again when traveling through the area.
