Circle R Motel

Well, it’s an old motel, dearly in need of some maintenance. The rooms are small, some with closets, some with not, some have supply issues, like cups for the Kuerig, or toilet paper, or some have all those, so expect this. Our room was comfy the first night but by the second night the mattress felt pretty hard. I do like the sheets though.mTV worked fine, as did the fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The shower has a bad drip though. I am staying with 2 other couples, and they reported that the room rates were not as told. The traffic noise is pretty bad, so leaving the window open is not an option.the A.C. works, though the wall heater looks scary. Not going to stay here again. No room service on the second day, though I did say yesterday that we did not need it then.

It’s important to consider what you’re looking for when considering a hotel to book. We were passing through town on a camping trip and were just looking for a clean place to stay for the evening while we reorganized our supplies. The front desk staff were very friendly during check in, offering dining options in town in addition to those shown on their local dining guide. Parking lot is a small loop around the hot tub/bicycle area which is located in the center of lot. Room was clean with no odors, appliances and shower worked as intended. Door to room faces parking lot which may contribute to some noise if it’s a busy night but we didn’t have any issues, could lightly hear our neighbors laughing through the wall at night but all was quiet by 10pm. Worked perfectly for what we needed, and for the price we felt it was a great deal

Stayed here before. Booked a trip for the end of the month because I had a tumor removed. Thinking all positive things and would enjoy the hotsprings. Pathology report came back no bueno so could only do a day down that way and had booked it for 4. Canceled the moment I found out. Explained the situation. Absolutely no empathy. Kept getting told 2 different stories by Bailey vs Airbnb. Host stated they couldn’t refund it cause it had blocked the dates out. Airbnb said I could then rebook it. At this point fine, I can enjoy a day or 2 and just eat the rest so no one would be out of $. Host absolutely refuses to rebook me or give me my money back. I even led with I could send my doctors information out the gate. Nope. Horrible operation of business. Who does that. Shame on them!!!! If you have any health issues don’t book with these heartless thieves!

We were extremely pleased with the updated room. From the outside, it looks like an old style motel but the rooms were wonderful. It's located on the main highway and makes for easy access to and from the hotel to eateries. Loved the place

Reasonably priced, friendly staff, comfortable. They even had a free, leave a book / take a book library in the laundry room. Only negative was the washer was broken, but the laundromat was one block away. ...and their retro front desk made out of a vintage auto is not to be missed!

Cute retro motel. We decided to stay based on clean neat outward appearance and old Studebaker parked in front plus older bicycles scattered around. We were not disappointed. Rooms fairly recent remodel and well done, clean and plenty of towels. Cut turquoise mini fridge. The bed was a bit firm for our taste but OK; if you like sleeping in the dark be sure have an eye mask. The window in the door lets in a lot of light plus around edges of window curtain. Would stay here again. No breakfast included but we prefer that. There are plenty of places near by if you want some right away.

The Circle R Motel does have a great, retro neon sign and a 50’s era Studebaker car parked out front. Visitors can rent/borrow vintage bikes to cruise around Salida…but… DO NOT BE DECEIVED! This is a transient motel that has been “remodeled” with a coat of ugly paint. The remodel consists of shoddy work and horrific paint colors. The web site is not an accurate representation of what the rooms look like in person. From the ill-fitting, hard to open door with a ½ inch gap at the bottom to the missing light switch covers, no detail is NOT poorly done. There is a plywood wall in the closet concealing a water heater with large gaps, a crawl space entry panel left ajar, this place exudes creepiness…. but that’s not all. The “artwork” on the walls can best be described as nuevo American psych ward. Add a relentlessly noisy “retro” fridge and incessant traffic noise on highway 50 and well…you get the idea…. but that’s not all. There are lots of rules like check out by 10:30 and check in at 4:00, the office is closed from 11:00-3:30 and there is a 72-hour cancellation policy. If you make the mistake of booking multiple days in advance and show up and not like it, sorry! There is no escape, because they will charge you anyway. Basically, this place would be tolerable if it was in the $49-$69 price range on a night where nothing else was available. They are charging way too much, $115-$215. It is a tourist trap…they don’t care if you return, they don’t have to, it’s Salida! Avoid this motel at all costs! Bonus complaints: The beds are small, on metal rolling frames and uncomfortable. There were food crumbs, dog hair and dust under the bed…so not that clean. Please refer to photos if available.

Convenient location, welcoming atmosphere, soft bed, affordable rates, easy walk to restaurants and shopping. Traveled with one dog, paid a fair pet fee of only $20. Enjoyed having a fridge, coffee, and microwave in the room.

Call ahead and verify amenities if you stay here. Staff was decent at check in. Motel is very old, but room was clean. Main issue I had was booking and confirmation stated that my room would have air cond. However, as I found out after hours on my first night, no AC in my room. Just a gas fired wall furnace. Had to open windows front and back to cool down overnight and there was no screen on the back window. Bathroom was clean, but shower curtain needs to be pitched. Nice big closet but no hangars for clothes?
