Borgo il Mezzanino

Borgo il Mezzanino is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed at. Our adult family enjoyed one of the most relaxed and superbly catered for holidays ever. The setting is breathtaking. The staff are superb and the attention to detail is first rate. The rooms are immaculate and beautifully presented. The food was always first rate and so nicely presented. We would recommend this agri tourism place to anyone who has a love for the Italian countryside and historical charm.

This place is special. Up the hill from a very nice but slightly less well-frequented lakeside town of Salo, this bills itself as an ‘agro-touristic’ country house. This means it has great gardens and grounds, lots of beehives (the honey is served at breakfast and available to buy), olive oil and more. In proactive it’s a real contrast from the bustle of all the Garda places you’ll visit if you come here. It’s peaceful, very welcoming and slightly off the beaten path. There are only 9 rooms here and it’s located at the end of a narrow bumpy road. But it’s only 8 mins drive from the town. Rooms are small (our classic room didn’t really have enough space for two large suitcases, there was one wardrobe only and that didn’t even open properly because the door hit the bed). So initially I wasn’t best pleased but the place won me over. The gardens are really lovely and worth a stroll. There are horses and goats in the field next door. The landscaping is wonderful. Relaxing music is piped all over which normally would irritate me but it was really well chosen music and added to the ambience. There’s a very small pool too, which is nice to dip into on a warm afternoon. The welcoming staff are great and very helpful, although sometimes it can be hard to find someone. The restaurant is fabulous - have at least one dinner here. The view from the terrace is really nice too. You see a bit of the lake but lots of hills and trees. The place is very green. The hotel is finished to a high standard, although the rooms don’t have enough well- placed electric sockets that a modern high end hotel should have (I had to pull out a heavy bedside table to find the single socket, which then meant my wardrobe door wouldn’t even partly open. Yes, opening this wardrobe was a hassle). Yes, it’s a converted old country house so some allowances have to be made with the rooms, but not having plug points in this day and age is not really acceptable. But you forgive the place a few small issues as it’s just such a wonderful environment. It’s been a long time since I went to a hotel that actively made me smile constantly. Touring round Garda is lovely but it is busy. Coming back to Borgo is a real treat.

Hanno soggiornato qui i miei genitori, per il compleanno di mia mamma. Hanno trovato personale molto cortese, la struttura bellissima e soprattutto il parco limitrofo. La cena nel ristorante molto buona e anche la colazione. Grazie mille.

Ho soggiornato una notte in questa struttura e devo dire che sono rimasta colpita ben oltre le mie aspettative. La pulizia, la bellezza di ogni angolo, la precisione dei giardini, la cura del dettaglio ti colpiscono già al primo sguardo. Poi la meraviglia continua ad aumentare scendendo le scale della bella villa, passeggiando nella terrazza inghiaiata, meriggiando a bordo piscina. Ho inoltre provato la spa privata, una vera chicca di piacere. Ed ho particolarmente gradito la cena del ristorante la Terrazza. Menzione speciale va a Bettina, che è stata impagabile nell'accoglienza, nel servizio al tavolo e al bar, nella colazione e che è stata insuperabile per la gentilezza e l'amore verso il suo lavoro. Avermi lasciato cenare in un angolo privato e imbandito con cura ed eleganza è stata la ciliegina sulla torta. Grazie di cuore per tutto e spero di tornare presto.

Il Borgo è incantevole e ben posizionato. La caratteristica principale è la tranquillità, che non è affatto da sottovalutare. Il ristorante è di buon livello, affinerei la presentazione dei piatti da parte del personale di sala, vale la pena. Lo staff è comunque squisito, bisogna dirlo. Peccato per la proposta di vino che a nostro avviso è risultata di livello inferiore rispetto a quella gastronomica. La piscina è bene considerare che non ci sia se ci si immagina - come normale - un luogo dove passate del tempo e nuotare un po’, perché più che “mini” è “micro”, però l’area dedicata è un buon punto di relax. Tanti i servizi, tutti a pagamento. Giustificherebbe di più il prezzo se qualcosa fosse incluso nel costo della camera.
