The hotel's location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf and a 10-minute walk to the cable car's starting point. There's also a 7-Eleven conveniently located nearby. The breakfast buffet gets very busy every morning with long queues, but it's well-organized and the selection is quite rich, definitely recommend it. Most importantly, the area it's in feels very safe.

This hotel's location is impeccable, right in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf, making getting around incredibly convenient. We stayed in a ground-floor room with a small patio, which was spacious, and the patio was practical for drying clothes. San Francisco definitely has significant temperature swings; it's pleasant and sunny during the day, but temperatures drop to around 10-15 degrees Celsius at night, so remember to bring a jacket. The surrounding area is quiet, with no issues with homeless people, and there are plenty of supermarkets and restaurants, so all amenities are well-covered. A special mention goes to the several car rental agencies next door to the hotel. If you rent a car from them, you can use their parking lot for free, which is significantly cheaper than the hotel's expensive parking fees. I highly recommend not parking directly at the hotel. The breakfast offers a good variety and tastes fine, but the queue was ridiculously long – it stretched from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM with hardly any breaks. If you want breakfast, you'll need to set aside at least half an hour. Another major drawback was the Wi-Fi: it was slow and only supported a maximum of 4 devices connecting simultaneously – in 2026, that's really unacceptable. I hope the hotel upgrades this soon. Overall, the good outweighs the bad, but these two points definitely impacted the experience.

The hotel has many rooms, but the soundproofing isn't great; the walls feel quite thin. The breakfast was pretty good. The pool doesn't seem to be heated, and San Francisco evenings are too chilly, so I didn't go for a swim. However, staying in Fisherman's Wharf felt safer. Overall, it's still worth staying here.

The hotel is conveniently located close to the Fisherman's Wharf Ferris wheel and Pier 39, just two traffic lights away. It occupies an entire building with a simple yet grand exterior. While the lobby bar felt a bit dated with old facilities, the room experience was surprisingly amazing. It was small but exquisitely designed, with an excellent ventilation system and very comfortable bedding. Like other American hotels, it doesn't provide disposable toiletries or slippers, and there's no self-service laundry; laundry is charged per item. Breakfast is a buffet, accessible with your room key. Although it appears to have many sections, they all offer the same items. The food was delicious, with very fresh and high-quality fruit – you could tell the chef put thought into it. There was also a wide variety of drinks, including many tea bags to choose from. The hotel has a pool, but I didn't get a chance to use it. Since it's near the pier and San Francisco has significant temperature swings between day and night, there's a row of fire pits outside the hotel entrance. It was really pleasant to warm up by the fire after a stroll back from Fisherman's Wharf in the evening. I personally found the experience much better than staying at a certain high-end hotel.

Great location, just a few minutes' walk to the pier and some restaurants nearby, plus there's a Trader Joe's right next door. The room was spacious, I even felt like the sofa could fit another person, haha. As other reviews mentioned, the AC unit is quite noisy, but I was so tired that I fell asleep right away.

Very nice hotel in a prime location, almost everything is within walking distance. Breakfast was top-notch! 👍 The only downside was a 10-minute wait, otherwise, I'd come back anytime.

My stay was extremely enjoyable. The hotel staff were professional, friendly, and attentive throughout my visit. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with a soft bed that provided an excellent night's sleep. The facilities were also kept in excellent condition. In addition, the breakfast offered a wide variety of high-quality options, catering to the needs and preferences of different travelers.

The soundproofing is really poor. I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel if you're trying to adjust to a new time zone. For three mornings in a row, I was woken up at 5 AM by people walking around upstairs. On the other hand, the breakfast is quite good and varied for a hotel in this category. The best part is its convenient location near the ferry terminal and easy access to car rentals. However, parking is very expensive.

The location is great, convenient for getting anywhere, especially with the self-driving taxis which are super handy. There was a queue for breakfast, but it moved pretty fast. I stayed for two nights and hung the 'do not disturb' sign, so I wasn't bothered by anyone.

Stay for 5 nights in this hotel. Room was neat & big with 2 queen size bed. Location was fantastic, very convention to walk around all the popular locations. Breakfast was very good and impressive. Not much service provided, no drinking water provided, no boiling kettle. Salt & pepper was filled the other way around.

We had a good stay at Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf. The location is excellent, with plenty of things within easy walking distance, and the hotel was a comfortable base for exploring San Francisco. Our room was reasonably comfortable and the breakfast was good, with a decent selection. However, there were a few things that could definitely be improved. The room only had one chair and a small table, so if we wanted to order food or sit and eat, one of us had to sit on the bed. The bathroom door handle was also quite faulty. If you closed the door fully, you could actually get locked inside, so we had to make sure we left it slightly open. The biggest disappointment was the Grab & Go shop. There was almost always a very long queue, even if you only wanted to buy a drink. There was generally only one staff member serving, and they were expected to do everything — serve customers, make coffees and heat food — one customer at a time. This made what should have been a quick and convenient option quite frustrating. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the location was a big plus. With a few improvements to the room setup, bathroom door and Grab & Go service, it could be a much better experience.

It's just a 3-4 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf, which is always crowded with tourists. The room itself felt a bit old, with low ceilings and an incredibly loud air conditioner – it sounded like a tractor! The window also wouldn't seal properly, or it just wouldn't open at all.
