Very charming hotel with lots of character both inside (light and airy, but with wooden beams, balconies and tasteful, new and modern fixtures) and outside as well (jacuzzi, small pool, manicured lawn with creek and lounge chairs). They even had a sauna. It felt like a zen-like oasis / fairy tale location (think Hansel and Gretel in an old charming wooden cottage) near a forest. My biggest gripe is that we could not eat in the hotel restaurant for dinner as it was “fully booked”. Some sort of high Michelin rating. I looked in the doors of the restaurant area and could only see like 10 tables which were mostly 2-person tables. So I recommend reserving when you book. Btw - the hotel seemed to cater to couples (no children below like 14) for special occasions. The hotel does not have much of any view of Schluchsee (like 20min walk to actual lake which seems very pretty). Not sure what options would be there if you wanted to enjoy the lake (rent a boat, kayak, swim) during your stay (we only stayed one night).
