Hotel berhampiran Harmony Tower in Tower, Shangri-La

The hotel is closed to Dukezong Old Town and you can reach to Guishan Temple by walking. The room is super clean and comfortable. Noted** this is the most very comfortable hotel that I've stay in the trip, for those who worries about toilet, the hotel has smart toilet with the automatic spray bidet system to clean without using any toilet paper (And of course we can select the temperature of water and level of the water pressure) I've book the Leisure Suite City View with the 2 queensize beds, floor heating and 1 living room with the fascinating view of Guishan Temple. Lastly, the hospitality of the hotel host and staffs are super nice!! I'm so impressed Don't worry about speaking Chinese, you can use google translate (for roaming sim) and Wechat translate to communicate with them!!

Service and location is very good. The people are very attentive and available to help you with every need. They helped us with our luggage and made sure our room was okay at checkin We dislikes the one-use towel and after consultation they changed to normal towels and gave us a room upgrade. They also had English speaking employees although miscommunication will still happen!

Thank you Nana and husband for the kind hospitality. They are very helpful and friendly, on our arrival they drove a pick up truck to carry our luggages to the hotel as the entrance of the old city prohibited vehicles from driving in. They also recommended nearby nice restaurant to us and video call us to guide us back to the hotel. Furthermore, their room has amazing views with direct visibility of the Du Ke Zong temple! We enjoyed our stay there so much thanks to the both of them!

Great location and friendly, helpful staff. One young man walked me straight to a very decent restaurant because I mentioned I was hungry. I do not smoke, and that will prevent me from staying here again. The entire place is heavily seasoned with stale cigarette smoke, including the two (very friendly and helpful) young male staff. The smell was so stong, I had to stand at a distance from them and remain outside of the place as long as I could. There is no such thing as a non-smoking room here. Noise was also an issue, due to the construction of the building. One attached image shows one of the few gaps in the walls where light, smoke and noise entered the room readily. There was noise until about 3:00 AM from the outside, from the lobby, and from the room above. I was in room 105 which faced the alley that tourists raced scooters up all day and evening. If you are a smoker, this could be a cozy place for you. Side note: the ******* Goodness café (pictured) served some of the best coffee I had in China. It has a great vibe and is close to the inn.

Rose’s guest house was our favorite place to stay during our month of traveling through China. Rose is an extremely kind and attentive host. She speaks perfect English and is focused (among others) on delivering western travelers a perfect experience. She is very knowledgeable about the beautiful region of northern Yunnan. We used her guest house as a base to explore amazing places like Yubeng and Tiger Leaping Gorge, which Rose helped us organize flawlessly. We were able to leave our luggage at the guest house during these excursions and Rose took care of our laundry as well, which was very convenient. The location is in a quiet part of the old town, in a beautiful historic Tibetan building that survived the fire. But most of all, the ambience of this place is special. After a couple of days, you will feel like you have found a home away from home. Do yourselves a favor and stay at Timeless Inn - you will not regret it!

Favorite hostel I’ve stayed at in China so far! The place is run by a hardworking couple, who are very flexible and helpful and speak good English. The husband was a mountain guide in the area, and helped me book and organize transportation and supplies for nearby treks. The wife is an amazing cook (the Korean dishes were especially tasty!) and manages the check in/out process smoothly. Both price and location are excellent, this is definitely the place to stay in Shangri La!

First of all, the hotel accepts foreigners (as of April 2024). It is centrally located in the old town, and public transportation (limited though it may be) is easily accessible. Of course, there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The room was very good, clean and in good condition, with all the necessary amenities. The staff was kind and helpful, and you may store your bag before check in and after check out. Perhaps one thing to note, is that you shouldn't count on your room having any particular view - my room had a view of the courtyard. Overall, a very good option for those who wish to stay in the ”old” town.

Staff are really helpful and enthusiastic for service. Although they cannot speak English, we can add WeChat for make conversation which they are really quick for response. The breakfast is delicious and variety. The hotel is far from old town around 10 minutes by walking and also close to the supermarket . Really suggest this hotel :)

Absolutely delightful experience! I booked this accommodation as my friend recommended. It was beyond our expectations. Food is great, the boss is warm hearted and easy going. My boyfriend was so happy that I booked this staying for our trip. We particularly love the doggie Da Er Duo. He’s such a nice little friend!! We miss him so much!
