Nelu Villa Sigiriya

Great spot to stay to swim in the pool and view of the rock the pool was clean and refreshing (cold).Rooms were clean and tidy and the food was great.We walked into both rocks very easy( watch for monkeys).Staff were very helpful and helped plan our days here.

The rooms are adorned with crisp white linens and provide a comfortable, relaxing ambiance. Overall, the room was exceptional, and our experience at Nelu Villa was nothing short of fantastic. I highly recommend booking your stay here; we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our visit.

Great food and a wonderful pool in the garden made this hotel delightful. The room was clean and the staff was very attentive. I could easily have spent a few more days here relaxing between sightseeing outings. I loved listening to the birds. The owner and his wife made me feel like family.

Had a great stay at nelu villa. We enjoyed the delicious food and great atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and our host was excellent. He organized a safari and a scooter for us. The bed was clean and comfortable, but the rest of the room was a little bit old and unclean.

I was at Nelu villa for a two night stay( 11th & 12th April 2023) and the experience was excellent. The host Shanaka, was an awesome individual and takes great care to make the guests stay comfortable. The room was clean and comfortable. The most of the ingredients for the preparation of food was from their neighboring field and was tasty / healthy. Nelu villa also provide vegan food as well. The entire place is accustomed for a quite holiday though with Shanaka’s advised and encouragement / support I managed to experience pidurangala. Overall it was a great experience and a pleasant holiday. Thanks to Shanaka , his staff and Nelu villa. I do not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone seeking an adventurous, quite holiday experience.

A three-night stay for a family of two adults and two children (aged 9 and 10)... I really wanted to love this place. After reading the excellent reviews and looking at the pictures, the whole family was looking forward to staying here. From the information available, I concluded that this place was clean, simple and unpretentious. It didn’t look luxurious but had a pool, a fantastic view of Sigirya Rock and a lower price point than other properties. The birds-eye view of the property amongst the rice paddies looked so beautiful. So we booked (through ***********) a room with two double beds, air conditioning and a balcony. However, when we arrived, we were shown a ground-floor room with one double and one single squeezed up next to it. There was no air conditioning and obviously no balcony. There wasn’t even any kind of veranda. Ants were crawling through an opening in the room, and the heat was stifling. I showed my booking to the member of staff (who was a very nice person), who brought us to our room and asked if we could have the room we had booked. In the meantime, my two children skipped off across the paddy field to look at the pool. I followed and discovered that the pool was completely green. The bottom was not even visible. In fact, only the top two steps of the ladder were visible under the water. All the other rooms were occupied, so we were offered a room at a neighbouring property. This one was even less appealing and also had only one double and one single bed, so wouldn’t have accommodated us, but even if it did, it had no pool, which was a deal-breaker as far as my children were concerned. So we left and went elsewhere. Luckily, we were still able to cancel the booking through *********** and were not charged. If you’re a budget-conscious, easy-going traveller, this may be the ideal property for you, but if you have hot, tired children and expect any kind of basic comfort, I would avoid it!
