Visalam Chettinad Palace - a CGH Earth Experience

A wonderful stay at CG Earth Visalam . The team is so caring , kind and friendly . Everything about the stay was memorable and soaked in the flavours of Royal chettinad yet had the humbleness of the chettinad culture . The highlight of the trip is the early morning cycling tour with Siva from CG Earth . An amazing experience to soak in the calmness of the country side . Siva takes good care to explain the route , the details of the historical facts and also paces it adequately for us to soak in the natural surroundings . Thank you Siva and CGEarth team

A well maintained heritage home in Chettinad! CGH Earth not only provides an excellent stay but a wholesome experience that transports you back to the bygone era. The team is so thoughtful that they have paid attention to the minutest details - like providing bicycles, planning an itinerary with QR codes provided so that you can explore the entire area on your own. The menu is well-planned and quality of food is superlative. Staff is amazing, they make you feel pampered. We had stayed on CGH Spice Village earlier and loved the experience. Waiting to explore other properties soon!

Our stay at Visalam was nothing short of wonderful. The property exudes the old-world charm of the Chettiar heritage, making you feel like you've stepped back in time while still enjoying modern comforts. The hospitality of the support staff was warm and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. However, what truly made our visit exceptional was our guide, Siva. He took us on an incredible tour of the grand Chettiar mansions, pointing out intricate details that we would have otherwise missed. His deep knowledge, professionalism, and engaging storytelling brought the history of the region to life. Beyond the mansions, he also took us to the Athangudi tile-making factory, where we got a firsthand look at the meticulous craftsmanship, and to a snack-making business run entirely by women, which was both a fascinating experience. Siva has a fantastic rapport with the local community, and it’s easy to see why he is a local celebrity guide. His fluency, passion, and ability to connect with people made the tour truly special. If you are visiting Visalam, Chettinad, I highly recommend requesting Siva as your guide, you won’t be disappointed! Visalam, with its heritage charm and outstanding service, is the perfect place to soak in the rich culture of Chettinad. A must-visit!

This is a beautiful hotel. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Rooms are clean and beautiful. This was a one night stop whilst travelling. Restaurant was on the roof and set menu was excellent and plenty of food. Breakfast was in the garden amongst the beautiful flowers. You got your tea and coffee from the lady with her beautiful cart. Well maintained swimming pool with plenty of sitting area and towels. The one thing was no alcohol, did not mind but at least tell guests before hand. After a 5 hr transfer mypartner wad looking forward to a cold beer. Plenty organised at hotel, we managed to get in on the cookery demonstration. Could have easily stayed a second night. Would highly recommend

We three couples stayed for 3 nights at this property. While the property is good, the operating system, especially for meals is very odd. There is no a-la-carte menu???, which is very unusual for a property like this. The guests are asked to confirm lunch or dinner as per the menu they share, right after the breakfast. If we don't choose a meal, and we happen to be in the property, we will not be served and there are no restaurants close by. In the event of saying yes, but not able to come back to hotel in time, or if we do not feel like having the said meal due to even health reasons, there is no option to cancel but end up paying without eating. I am an ardent traveler and have never experienced any such thing before.

The hotel is a Chettinad style house property. Staff is very very courteous and helpful. We were especially happy with Siva, the in-house guide, who took us around for a tour of chettinad houses, athangudi tile making and snacks and sweet making. The experience was simply amazing. Siva knows what he is talking about, very enthusiastic person and willing to share his abundance of knowledge. We discovered he is also an amazing photographer as well and a painter. He made us trip very fulfilling and worthwhile. Thanks Siva
