Scandic Stavanger Airport

the location of this hotel is very convenient, just 2 minutes walk from the terminal doors. the breakfast was also quite good. Upon check in (around 1300) I was told that my room was ready but I need to wait to 3pm or pay 150NOK for the privilage of getting into my empty and ready room early. There is of course no cost to the hotel so this is a pure money squeezing exercise, totally unnessacery. For the price, I found that the hotel was not well aintained and not as clean as I hoped. Asol the room had a window with an internal view only, no window to outside at all.

I have stayed at the Scandic at Sola airport many times in the past years and always enjoyed my stay. This time (June 14-18th) it is a terrible experience . While the reception people are very nice, the hotel is filthy. The entrance floor’s floors are so dirty that in some places my shows make a sticking noise. Worst of is the room. The floor is so dirty that after my first step with my white socks turned black. During my first full day, my room was not cleaned or made. I asked the reception to request house keeping but no one bothered to come. Fortunately the cleaning cart was in the corridor so I helped myself clean towels. The next full day I asked the reception in the morning to make sure that the room I clean by 3PM . That did not happen. I asked again at 5 PM advising that I will return by 8PM. When I returned, I saw that housekeeping solely provided me with a towel. The bed was untouched and the floor as dirty as it was. Upon check-in two days ago, I asked for a harder pillow or at least an additional pillow to the tiny pillow provided on the bed. Since the I have been asking for that for 48 hours. My request is totally ignored. Long story short, Scandic at Sola airport deteriorated to a very low level. I am amazed that they have not failed a health authority inspection. A complaint to Norges Helsevesen is my next step. In the mean time I hope that potential guests reading this comment will be aware of what to expect at Scandic at Sola.

The curtains were very dirty like somebody throw up on those. Same were the walls. Impossible not to notice that si cleaning service shouldn't miss it.

Why are you here? Probably because you have a late arrival or more likely an early departure, and thus staying for one night only. In that respect, the airport is very good, though I wouldn't want to stay for more than one night. We were on the early departure, so checked in to the hotel at the end of a holiday. Check in was efficient, not really a warm welcome, just efficient. Downstairs was nIce, very Scandic so well designed with the usual Scandic shop and very open plan - seems like they are keen to show the football when they can with the steps to the breakfast room serving as an auditorium. The bedroom itself was a bit tired, often the case with airport hotels. It was a bit shabby, the hairdryer didn't work, no view and you wouldn't really want to hang around in it. But for sleeping, and the early morning shower, it did the job: comfy bed, quiet room, and functional bathroom. Not sure about airport baggage trolley being dumped in the corridor though as we arrived, and still there next morning. Breakfast is served from 0500 and is again typically Scandic, so very good. If you're on the 0600 to Amsterdam with just security to negotiate in the airport, it's doable. For the 0700 departures, you can actually have a bit of time to enjoy it. The real beauty of this hotel though is its location. It's adjacent to the car parks and just a two minute walk from the front door to the check-in desks, so if you're after convenience, this epitomises it. Yes, I'd stay here again. As an airport hotel, it does what it's supposed to do.

The price/value gap here is the worst ever experienced. I have traveled the world in 35 years, never experienced larger gap. Everything from parking to hotel quality is a rip off. Find another place to stay!

Arrived after midninght .No heating at all in the room. FREEZING COLD. Also cold in the reception area and in the breakfast resturant. Complained in reception next morning, and were given a portable heating fan that was still hot probably after being used by another freezing guest. Worst hotel night I`ve had since late 1980`s
