B&B Downham Hall

When I originally enquired about afternoon tea at Downham Hall, I had a lot of accessible requirements. They were extremely accommodating. The afternoon tea itself was really lovely. Nice fresh sarnies with lovely fillings. The scones are really nice. The cakes were just right - not full of cream! Thank you for looking after us. We had a fantastic time. The prosecco went down well too!!

We visited here last month for afternoon tea which was absolutely lovely. We couldn’t fault it except that there was no one there to show us where to go on arrival so we were stood there like part of the furniture. Well this time we booked afternoon lunch but yet again there was no one there to show us or even guide us to a table. After some faffing around we were eventually guided to a table. Granted it was a really hot day but it wasn’t busy. Eventually after 40 mins we were served a drink and nearly an hour later we finally got our food. The food was a let down to be honest. We both chose chicken shish but the chicken was thigh (the cheapest cut you can get) full of fat when it should really have been fillet. Overall not a great experience but we’ll give it one more try. It could be such a top notch venue if only they got it right. It’s all small things that need attention but those things will make the difference between average and really good. Tables not cleared, chairs strewn all over the place. Areas cordoned off that were clearly done with and a messy sofa that looked like it had just had a party on it from the night before not to mention litter all around it. Hopefully it’ll be better when we go next time, I pray that it is.

We had used this place several times for dinner with the family and always found it very good. This was the first time we stayed for 2 nights and would recommend it any time. The rooms were a good size, and quiet in the night. The beds vere very comfortable. We will certainly be back.

Stayed for 1 night and had dinner and breakfast. What a beautiful place. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Dinner was exceptional and they catered for various food intolerances brilliantly. The room was really clean, well equipped and decorated beautifully. The only slight negative was the bed. I didn’t sleep well as the bed was too soft BUT that’s personal preference. Would highly recommend Downham Hall

We had our wedding reception at Downham Hall in September and it was the most perfect day! The venue is so picturesque and having the wedding breakfast in the marquee was the best setting, with views looking out onto the pond and grounds just outside. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us and they accomodated every request we had without question, meaning we could enjoy our day completely without any worries. Debra (the wedding co-ordinator) was amazing, she helped plan the day and made sure we got everything we wanted, even ordering in Guinness for the night! In the lead up to the wedding we visited a few times for dinner and lunch, and Christina and Andrew would always say hello and ask if we were excited for the wedding, which was a nice personal touch and showed how much they cared. The food at Downham Hall is always amazing, our favourite was the Amalfi lemon tart! They accomodated for all the food allergies and intolerances in our wedding party, i can't praise the chef highly enough! Downham Hall is an amazing venue for any event, or just for a nice dinner out or afternoon tea, they can do it all! We can't recommend them enough.
