We visited with family in August and had an amazing time. The location is fabulous just a short walk into the centre of Grasmere. Moses on Reception is a true credit to the hotel, what a polite gentleman and always greeted you with a smile. Breakfast was excellent, we also had lunch and our evening meal here and again the service and food was 1st class. Denise at the spa was really helpful. We will certainly return to this lovely hotel, thank you again for a great weekend break.

We ate in both gilpin spice and source. Both meals were delicious! We also had lunch and cocktails in the lounge which were also lovely. The team made me a cocktail off menu as well which I really appreciated. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel comfortable throughout our stay. The rooms are a little pricey and I was expecting a little more for my money but overall we really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was hospitable with very friendly staff however location wise it was quite far from the places I wantes to visit however it was close by to the town centre with many halal restaurant suchs as lake raj. Overall it was a pleasant stay!!!

Good hotel, plesent staff ideal for steam train and steamer ride to Bo'ness good breakfast ample parking would stay again

We first visited Rothay Gardens back in the late 90s and have returned frequently over the last 25 years …but we had only visited while Chris Carrs was in charge We decided after a few years it was time to see what it was like under the new management of Harbour Hotels…we booked a nights dinner bed & breakfast..the decor has slightly changed but was very similar and although we were given an up grade our room and other areas of the hotel do look a little tired …and were the same as in 2008 when the hotel had a major refurb. Our shower in the room didn’t work properly which we reported on departure We used the spa facilities on our arrival which were good although nothing had changed and as we left decided to relax on the patio …but there wasn’t anyone around so we had to go in search of a member of staff for some refreshments .. Previously dinner orders were taken in the bar and you were invited to the dining room once your first course was ready ..our reservation was 7.30 so we made our way into the dining area …not quite sure what our dinner allocation consisted of..we ordered and then waited for it to arrive .there was a long wait between courses and it felt disjointed and the dinning area really wasn’t busy ...we had to ask for side plates and remind the waiter as he forgot Dinner was fine ..small portions which we supplemented with side orders (fillet steak ,a few mushrooms and watercress) so it needed something else as it wasn’t a cohesive main course ..Desert..my partners arrived but mine was delayed and when it did come we had to ask for spoons..overall it wasn’t the best We slept really well and arrived for breakfast which was nicely cooked and well presented ..although previously toast was brought to the table but now you serve yourself …there seemed to be a lack of staff available…I had to ask for a knife as the table wasn’t set properly and we had to ask for extra butter ..all small details but if the hotel is hoping to be classed as a luxury hotel need more attention to detail On departure we asked for our bill and were surprised to be charged for the side dishes we had with our main meal …the reception said the sides on the menu had prices next to them only food without were included in the dinner price …this was not clear and although paying for them wasn’t a problem guests should be aware …and without the sides the main meal wasn’t really sufficient… Will we go back …not sure
