Maybe due to weather issue, seems some mosquitoes and flies,, even inside room, the hotel is a bit old but kept not bad, service is perfect too, I like their velvet parking, just 1000yen/night and you may drop off at door. Amenities are adequate but I don't like the package of toothpaste which was a small bag and hard to open. Room was spacious; some shops around after crossing the bridge, if the convenience store can extend working hours, e.g 0200 ? I think it would be perfect as some of guests, like us, may arrive late at night.

The service is flawless—attentive, warm, and genuinely thoughtful without ever feeling intrusive. The rooms are extremely comfortable, beautifully designed, and perfectly suited for a slow, restorative stay. The surrounding nature is stunning, and the resort feels well integrated into its landscape, which adds a lot to the overall experience. We stayed in December, and despite it being winter, the atmosphere was still incredibly pleasant and charming. The main pool does not operate in winter, but honestly, it doesn’t feel like a drawback at all—there is so much more to the property than the pool. Breakfast deserves a special mention: it is excellent, with high-quality ingredients and great variety. I highly recommend trying breakfast in different restaurants during your stay, as each offers a slightly different experience. Overall, Halekulani Okinawa is a refined, serene, and beautifully executed resort. A perfect choice for those who value comfort, service, and atmosphere over loud entertainment—even in the winter season.

We had spent 4 nights at the hotel during the Golden Week which might have influenced the perception of service, but not dramatically. Among the advantages of the hotel are: nice spacious rooms (ours had a stunning sea view); generally good location with beautiful nature and access to the beaches where you could actually swim (not a given on the island) - at least until the tide goes too low; reasonably good food across the restaurants with rather friendly prices; stylish bar with quality drinks. Among the disadvantages are: very non-Japanese service (generally not very helpful, with low penetration of English among the staff) and lack of attention to detail that could make the resort actually very nice - again, not very typical case for Japan. A few pieces of advice to the management: 1. Bring the option of in-room breakfast. If a guest is sick and can’t go down, it’s impossible to order in-room breakfast on the day, while rooms service opens at 11:30. Same frustration goes to the coffee stall downstairs that doesn’t serve coffee during earlier breakfast hours 2. Consider equipping rooms with coffee machines and contemporary electronics - low costs to take, yet massive disadvantage for the 5* status for not having them 3. Pay more attention to room service: we spent 48h without shampoo and shower gel. Our glasses were washed occasionally. New bottles of drinking water arrived only once. 4. Fix the beach! The amenities there look like a poor community beach area, especially those shameful umbrellas. You have reasonable amenities at the pool - why not spreading them to the beach areas to make them feel more like a resort rather than public beaches that no one gave any care? 5. Gym and SPA amenities could use a bit of refreshment. I won’t mention SPA service itself which might be a result of poor luck with the specific technician 6. Empty mini bar equals lost revenue. You could easily cover the modifications above through adding more options for people to enjoy drinks at their balconies. What makes staying in Japan truly special - genuine care and attention to every detail - was completely missing over our stay at this Hyatt. In fact, we consistently had that feeling “this could actually be really nice” and then something would go terribly wrong with the awkward service. The hotel that looks like 5* on pictures leaves a 3* aftertaste at max. I am only writing this because I felt it didn’t have to - those are easy aspects to fix.

Beware of HIDDEN COSTS for the indoor swimming pool, gym, onsen, and even the seats at the adult outdoor swimming pool. To me, this is pure robbery. I have never experienced this before in my life, even at other hotels in Japan. I understand there are sometimes fees for an onsen, but hotels normally give a discount or allow guests to use it once for free. This is why I gave 1 to amenities. There are two options for breakfast: Japanese or International. The Japanese breakfast was served in a bento box (one per person, with unlimited refills on rice and soup), but the fish was already a bit cold. I know they don’t want to keep their customers waiting, but there should be a way to keep the food warm. My advice is to always go with the international buffet unless you prefer to sit somewhere with fewer people. The room was great, soundproof, and well-equipped with everything you need, including a medium-sized bathtub. However, the view from my room was blocked by the pool and trees (this wouldn't be an issue if you are above the 5th or 6th floor). The hotel indeed looked pretty, but I found their beaches to be kind of mid compared to what I saw while driving around Okinawa.

Had the pleasure of staying at this property for four nights and was impressed by the overall quality of the experience. The hotel’s central location in Onna Okinawa is an advantage, providing easy access to shopping, dining, and cultural attractions. It serves as an excellent base for leisure travelers if you self drive. The room was spacious, modern, and thoughtfully equipped with a kitchen and washing machine, making it particularly convenient for longer stays. The layout was comfortable and functional, offering both relaxation and practicality. Breakfast was a highlight of the stay. The buffet spread was wide. The system of collecting a queue number before lining up was efficient and ensured a smooth dining experience. Evenings were made memorable by the hotel’s stunning sunset views. Watching the sky transition into vibrant hues from the property was a truly special experience that added to the charm of the stay. Overall, the hotel delivered on all fronts: location, comfort, amenities, and atmosphere. I would not hesitate to return and will certainly choose this property again on my next visit to Okinawa.

Highlights Service & Hospitality: The staff provided exceptional service throughout our stay, always welcoming, professional, and attentive to our needs. Dining: Overall, the food options were fantastic and added a lot of flavor to our holiday. Cleanliness: The rooms and property were exceptionally clean and well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing environment. Eco-Friendly Program: We loved the option to opt out of daily housekeeping in exchange for a 1,000 yen credit—it's a brilliant, eco-friendly initiative that rewards sustainable choices while cutting down on waste. Room for Improvement Breakfast Selection: While most of the food was great, the Western breakfast option felt a bit lackluster and could use a bit more variety or a culinary refresh. Overall, it is a fantastic resort with great attention to detail, and we would happily return for another visit!

1. 호텔서비스: 주차료 무료. 여긴 체크인 후에는 카트로 짐과 사람을 옮겨주고, 요청 시에는 카트로 태우러 와주신다. 오키나와지만 하와이...? 자연경관을 볼 수 있는 곳 2. 편의시설: 근처가 다 오쿠마땅인거 같다. 숙박 외에 해결할려면 차가 필요할거 같다.(한국인이 우리 밖에 안보였고, 일본 가족단위 여행객이 많은 것 같았다.) 여름에 오면 앞에 있는 프라이빗 비치를 이용할 수 있어서 좋을 것 같다. 3. 식사: 종류가 많진 않지만 직접 싸주시는 일본식 김밥(?)과 나머지로 든든하게 식사 가능했다.

Outstanding Family Resort Experience We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this resort to families visiting Okinawa. The service throughout our stay was excellent. Every staff member we encountered was warm, helpful, and genuinely committed to making our holiday memorable. One of the best decisions we made was purchasing the Savvy Club package. It offered excellent value through discounts on restaurants and activities, and an added bonus was that lunch and dinner were complimentary for children under 12. For families, this made a significant difference and enhanced the overall experience. The range of activities available was truly impressive. Beyond the usual water sports, there were opportunities for snorkeling, diving, and unique marine life programs. Our children especially loved the experiences with the sea turtles and dolphins, which became the highlight of the trip and created memories they will talk about for years to come. Swimming with the dolphins was particularly special and an experience we will never forget. Another standout feature was the indoor water park. It was a huge hit with our children and provided the perfect alternative when the weather was either rainy or simply too hot to be outdoors. Having such a high-quality indoor facility meant there was always something fun for the kids to do regardless of the conditions. What stood out most was the level of care shown by the staff. As we had a very early flight on our departure day, we informed the hotel that we would be checking out before breakfast service started. Without hesitation, they kindly prepared breakfast bento boxes for our family to take with us. It was a thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflected the hotel’s exceptional hospitality. From the facilities and activities to the outstanding service, this was one of our favourite family holidays. The children are already asking when we can come back, which says it all.

Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort is one of the best hotel and experience I had. The location is great which easy access to both north and south part of the island. Facilities are the best, especially the water activities. We tried almost all marine activities and all are great. Staff are wonderful and really helpful. They helped me from the day I book the hotel, marine activities arrangements, room service, and front desk. We definitely will come back to meet the great staff and hotel.

The location is easy to reach even without a car thanks to regular bus connections. The setting itself is stunning — the hotel is located on a separate peninsula, and the views are truly magnificent. Unfortunately, the hotel building feels very old and worn out. It is difficult to perceive it as a high-end place in its current condition. Because of this, the prices for additional services and restaurants also feel overpriced. Dust, dirt, worn furniture, and even mold significantly spoil the overall impression. At the same time, there are many positive aspects. Some areas are beautiful, the food is very tasty, and the staff are extremely polite, attentive, and caring. However, there was also an issue with canceling part of my stay. I submitted a cancellation request, but it was repeatedly declined. Although the manager confirmed by email that the cancellation should be possible, they claimed the request never reached their system. If the hotel undergoes a proper renovation, I would gladly return. For now, my feelings are very mixed — the natural beauty and great service contrast strongly with the poor condition of the property.
