We last visited the Mouses House forty years ago in our youthful mid-30’s. My memories of this visit include images of a cute wooden cottage nestled deep in a scenic rainforest by the side of a meandering creek. It was winter, so there was a roaring wood fire and two glasses of chilled white wine, a veritable love nest. When I conveyed these memories to my dear wife, her only comment was “which of our children did we take!” Children, love nest, you’ve got to be kidding! And they say women are the romantics! Well I’m pleased to report my memories have proved to be correct, the Mouses House is an idyllic love nest and a child-free environment. The timber interior, subtle lighting, comfy couches and log fire create a wonderful warm and romantic environment. The owners had thought of everything for our comfort including the modern day essentials; an IPad, cable TV, coffee maker, telephone reception. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was large and comfortable and we had one of the cottages with a his-her spa bath. We would highly recommend the breakfast and dinner basket options. Both were excellent value for money and you will need a big appetite to eat the tasty and extensive fare in a single meal. Last but not least, Springbrook, a truly beautiful part of Australia, impressively healthy rainforests, breathtaking lookouts and well managed walks suitable for all ages, including romantic mid-70 year olds. Based on recent comments from wife, I suspect it will not be 40 years to our next visit. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Ps. Our cottage had two sleeping areas so I suspect less romantic couples could take the kids along.
