Cari Hotel 2-Star di Lanzhou

This is a very nice hotel right on a pedestrian street lined with food stalls and restaurants. At night mobile food carts get rolled in and positioned along the center of the street adding yet more food choices! In addition to this, just a short walk away is a huge pedestrian shopping street along with an underground shopping complex accessed through street level escallators. Although the hotel is on a pedestrian street it is really just about 3/4 block from a street with vehicle access. This hotel is a bit difficult to find though, because individual street address numbers are difficult to find. The best thing is to look for a huge Hanting Hotel logo on the right side of the pedestrian street as you head up from the traffic street along the river. The sign is blue with a white horse! The entrance to the hotel itself looks more as if you are entering a coffee shop because of the street entrance signage. But power past all the tables for people having coffee, and you can find the hotel front desk at the back. As mentioned before, the hotel is quite close to the Yellow River and just a short walk to the ”Iron Bridge” (AKA Zhongshan Bridge) and all that neighborhood offers! One drawback to the hotel is that to get into the entrance there are some narrow steps. Level entrances are always best! Yet, I would definitely stay in this hotel again! (And when you are in Lanzhou, be sure to try Lanzhou Beef Noodles!)

I stayed in this hostel for a total of 5 nights, with two breaks when I went on tours outside of Lanzhou. I have put in reviews earlier, so this is my final for the hostel that had begun to feel like Home. The hostel itself is very comfortable a stay: clean, comfortable wide bed with sliding door for privacy, nice seating areas... It is run by a family who take turns staying over so that there is 24 hour reception. All are friendly and kind, especially the father. The parents don't speak English but you can easily use a translation app; other guests will probably interact with you. The location: it is situated about a 5 minute walk to the Yellow River Tower, and a further 10 minute walk to the Lanzhou Old Street area where there is an amazing array of food options. Just outside the hostel is a Halal (Muslim-run) restaurant called (Ruhua 如华）which the hostel owners say have been in operation for 20 or 30 years. The hand-pulled (手抓) mutton that I had there was fantastic, even though I am typically not a mutton eater --- the taste is a delicate and balanced mix of light spices (I could taste a hint of ginger, for example) and saltiness. And the 八宝茶 is also excellent. A 7 minute walk to the right after exiting the hostel (past the above -mentioned restaurant) to the main road where many buses ply, you will find another good mix of local food options, especially in the morning. The hostel is conveniently located near the Lanzhou West railway station. There is a bus 136 that runs just outside the hostel and gets you to the railway station in 20 minutes. Hope this helps someone deciding on where to stay in Lanzhou, since there doesn't seem such a good range of hostels. 這家酒店是我旅遊以來住的性價比最高的酒店，一百多就可以住在市中心，樓下就是馬安軍辣子牛肉麪，旁邊就是美食商業街，蘭州中心，甘肅省博物館，離公交站和地鐵站都非常近，出行非常方便，老闆的態度也很好，至於其他評論説的情況，我覺得這個要見仁見智，如果對酒店要求高的，可以去住四五百一晚的，這個酒店就一百多一晚，還要啥自行車，如果是出來玩，住酒店衹是為了過夜，沒有其他的額外需求的話，我非常推薦這家酒店

I stayed in a 4-person room. The room was minimalist and medium-small, with lockers – basic but comfortable. The common area is stylish and inviting, with plenty of seating, cozy corners, plants, kettles, and power outlets, though it’s on a high floor with a glass ceiling – warm when hot, cozy when cold, and the few fans aren’t always enough. The staff at the desk were friendly, laundry facilities available, though no snacks or cold drinks. The area is urban, among regular buildings, so not particularly attractive from the outside, but within walking distance to the museum and the metro station, with a large supermarket and several food options nearby. Overall, a decent place to stay in Lanzhou.

On the map this hotel is about 900m away from the Lanzhou West train station, but I would advise you to take a taxi/ride-hail vehicle if you have large/heavy luggage. You have to either cross an overhead bridge without lift to reach the hotel, and because the stretch of road has buildings beside it that are undergoing construction, it can be a bit difficult to navigate the footpath which sometimes spills over to the road. Alternatively, you can take the metro for one stop and backtrack, but you would have to put your luggage through the scanner, let security test your liquids in the luggage, etc. There is a convenience store outside the hotel, but otherwise there isn't much shopping to be done. The location is good only because it is near the train station.

離文理學院蠻近的，衹是需要繞一圈過去。房間很大，床也很大，被子很厚實暖和，採光很好，晚上還能看夜景。老闆姐姐人很好，非常熱情善良好説話，如果你第二天有考試的話姐姐説可以不用趕十二點退房（我是晚上六點入住的，如果超24h應該不行）。這會還沒裝修完畢，沒有無線網，公共廁所沒有洗手液和衞生紙以及其他洗漱用品，介意的話可以詢問一下。

*If you are going to Lanzhou …* … this is the hotel to stay especially if you are an independent traveller! Even before arrival we reached out to Li and she promptly promised to send a car to meet us upon arrival at Langzhouxi. The Tumendun metro station is right in front of the hotel. So is the bus stop which serves buses running to several Lanzhou attractions. Aside from the obvious locational advantages the thing that strikes me most is the warmth and hospitality of the family running the place. Everyone from father, mother, 2 sons to DIL was eager to help with any questions that we might have. We couldn’t believe how patient they were in providing invaluable insights for the benefit of the tourist. The room and bathroom were kept clean. Hot and cold water were readily available as well as a kettle. We are grateful and would like to thank the whole family for treating us like family during our short stay here!

房間安靜，乾淨衞生，老闆大哥熱情似火，房間地理位置優越，不過在居民樓內，建議提前跟老闆溝通，獲得詳細地址，房間內設施齊全，床鋪乾淨整潔，枕頭非常柔軟，洗漱用品配備完善，價格適中。最重要這個酒店適合備考的朋友來，本人面試分數89分，可以接好運，在這邊住宿必然上岸

The place is a cheap solid utilitarian option in an excellent location. This is not a hostel for the meek. As far as I can tell: there are at least 16 sleep pods and one bathroom. (A 2-liter Platypus water bladder can, as always, help men not need to use the bathroom to pee as much (also great for not needing to leave the from room at all, for that.) There is a very accesible stairwell for any serious emergency- just bring a container and your TP. Bring your own toilet paper. No towel service. I am not sure my sheets were clean- I just slept in my clothes. The whole place needs a good scrub-down. WiFi is by QR-code only. Potable water appeared to be provided. Sleep pod had decent lighting and sockets. No carpets. Finding and accessing the building takes a little detective work but the person managing their account sent me decent enough pics to find my way. I got into and out of the building by following tenants- never needed to solo. The picture of the small room I got for $2 extra was not the one in the picture- it was actually in a pod; but the pod was in a good location. The place is a cheap solid utilitarian option in an excellent location.
