Simonzicht Guest House

We really enjoyed our stay at the guest house, beautiful property and grounds. Thank you to the team for the upgrade to the lovely suite overlooking the pool, it was amazing! They also gave recommendations for local wineries and restaurants, much appreciated!

I think that this place is nice. The location is great if you are wanting to experience the Stellenbosch wine region and the staff friendly and helpful, especially Bheki. However, I think that it is over sold and over priced. We paid for the Deluxe Suite, which on the website states, "Our deluxe suites offer breath-taking views of the Simonsberg mountain from their private patios, the perfect spot to relax and enjoy..." first of all, the patio was not at all private. In fact, the guests at and in the pool are right at the patio and can actually see directly into the room. I had to close the curtains to change. Also, there is no peace and quite when guests are having loud conversations at the pool. There is also no view of the mountains from the patio; they are obscured by trees. The wifi does not reach the room that we were in and I had endless issues trying to connect for work calls or to access my emails. The breakfast is fine, but nothing to write home about. For R4k per night, I expected a much fancier buffet with salmon options etc. On the first day, we arrived at 09:30 (breakfast ends at 10) and the buffet was almost depleted. The house is an old wooden house and it is loud. There is music playing in reception for guests, which is fine if you can't hear it in the rooms. You can hear almost everything happening in the other parts of the house. There is also no proper tea station in the room and no fridge. Given this and that no other meals are provided, one would expect some sort of communal/honesty bar, but there was nothing of the sort. I used some of the consumables on the first day and they were not replenished on the second day. There is also no evening turn down and no tissues are provided in the room. Again, for R4k per night I would expect at least that. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom nice. The room was decorated nicely. Overall, it was a nice stay, but I was put off by home much I paid. For that price, the equivalent does not have these issues.

A fantastic boutique guest house, nestled amongst the most beautiful vineyards. The staff are incredible, they made our stay so special. The team were so helpful in assisting with activities, transfers and really made us feel at home. We can’t wait to return!!

We had a fantastic stay at Simonzicht Guest Housing. It is beautiful property with lovely views from the patio and pool area. Our bedroom, the deluxe suite, was superb - beautifully decorated, with lovely touches and a great view from the balcony. We were only on short trip of the winelands and Cape Town so we could not stay longer - would have loved too. The breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked eggs and plenty of fresh fruit, granola etc on the buffet. The proximity to some excellent vineyards including Tokara, Thelema, Boschendal,, Delaire Graff was great too. Highly recommend.

Ein wunderschönes, herzlich geführtes Guesthouse in fantastischer Lage. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön und gepflegt. Die Gastgeber empfangen die Gäste herzlich und umsorgen sie. Toller Garten mit Pool und die Lage ist perfekt zwischen Stellenbosch und Franschhoek! Herzlichen Dank, wir kommen gerne wieder zurück!
