Overall: 6/10 Staff: 9/10 Price: 8/10 Location (to sights): 8/10 Transit: 8/10 Room: 6/10 Common Areas: 6/10 Restaurant/ Bar: 9/10 Vibe (community): n/a Really enjoyed my stay at other hostels from this company and this one should have been just as good but there’s some things i just can’t put aside… First off, the hostel is dirty. Not talking dirt in the bunks (thankfully) but for as new as it seems, the shared spaces are rough. Bathrooms look rough, half the soap and dryers don’t work (not a good thing for hygiene obviously), the showers were always covered in water and hot water, up for debate. Next, the place is loud. Not hostel, a few people are chatting loud and certainly not 8pm, like the room was basically in the bar and the bar was busy (see next item) till after 1. Sure, we could have closed the window to help a bit but with no other airflow in the room, it’s a choice between super loud and hot/stuffy. Loud won. Last off, during my stay, they were hosting an event which meant a ton of people hanging around. Now the event was for a great purpose and that’s awesome and everyone was friendly too but it still meant the bar was basically taken over by locals who knew each other and filled up the community spaces, instead of a traveler or even a general bar vibe. Not a thrilling thing to find out after checking in. All that said, staff was great, super friendly when I checked in and around the place. The bar / restaurant is well done with a nice range of options and decent prices though I didn’t find the breakfast worth the buffet cost. Like the other locations, rooms are nicely done, bunks have good curtains, power, lights, all the makings of a 10/10, but not.

Hotel Cour du Corbeau Strasbourg - MGallery

We (2 adults and 2 children) absolutely loved this hotel - it’s charming, has extremely friendly, respectful and highly efficient staff, very well equipped rooms and bathrooms (conditioner and hair bobbles a bonus!), a welcoming bar, great pizzas (room service that we ate in one of the communal bar spaces downstairs with friends also staying here) and last but not least, an AMAZING breakfast. Seriously the best we have ever had and we stayed in a lot of hotels on this 7-week tour of Europe. The breakfast here has ruined it for all other hotels in the world 😍! Simply brilliant - the home made deserts and cakes are to die for!
Holiday Inn Express Strasbourg - Centre

This is one of the most underwhelming hotels I have stayed in. Pro’s: location is on tramline and a close walk to attractions. Staff were accommodating and the breakfast is good. Cons: if your room faces the street it is incredibly loud. Bring earplugs. Horns, tram, screaming. Pillows are hard, no plug anywhere near the bed to charge a phone. Dim lights/no overhead light. The room was painted very dark/no pictures on walls. Not cheerful at all. The hallway was red and looked like a toddler painted it. There were nice touches like a free chocolate but this place misses the mark.
Hotel les Haras

I stayed at Hotel les Haras for 3 nights and had a lovely stay. It is across the river just a few blocks from Petite France and the old town. It is a 15 mins. walk from the train station. So everything is close, but you are just outside the centre so it feels really quiet and peaceful. It is near the teaching hospital and the cave historique des hospices de strasbourg (old wine cellar) is worth popping by and is very close. There are also several excellent and affordable restaurants within steps of the hotel - less touristy than the ones near the cathedral. I chose this hotel because hotel guests have access to the spa area/pool for 1 hour daily and this was a highlight of my stay. You do have to reserve a time slot, but I would usually book it on the same day and whatever time I wanted was available. Sometimes I had the facilities to myself, and at maximum there were 3 other people there. The swimming pool is heated and beautifully designed. It is peaceful but big enough you can actually swim some laps. There is also a Finnish sauna, steam room, showers, and one of those buckets where you pull the cord and it dumps cold water on you. Then there is a relaxation area with chairs, loungers, blankets and tea. Just blissful!! If you want to stay over 1 hour, it is 25 euros but I also did not feel they were strict and timing your stay to the minute. I did not use the gym but took a peek and it is small without any mirrors, but has some basic equipment if you need (cardio machines, free weights). They let me borrow the pilates mat as I prefer to workout in my room so that I can use videos from my laptop. When I checked in, I was shocked to see my room was not cleaned and was a mess from the previous guest. I was surprised at the oversight. I would also say the woman who checked me in was not particularly warm. She just gave me my key and did not make any small talk whatsoever (e.g. asking where I came from/how the flight was etc). So my first impression was not the best. But there was a staff member in the hallway, so I told them my room was not ready and she quickly fixed the situation. At first, she said I can wait and they will clean it. But I was annoyed as I had been traveling almost 24 hours (flight to CDG then taxi to train station then train then 15 mins walk in the heat) and just wanted to rest and shower. Plus, it was after 3pm which is the designated check-in time. It's not like I arrived early. Thankfully, they found me another room and immediately took me there and were apologetic. I did not require much assistance from the concierge as I already had things planned out. I did not eat their breakfast, as I preferred to go to different cafes nearby to try their baked goods and coffee. I did enjoy sitting in the courtyard and reading. Front desk staff (a kind man, didn't get his name) were helpful when I needed to borrow a universal adapter. The room itself (the basic queen room) was near perfect. I just checked out of this hotel today. I loved everything about the hotel from the moment I walked in. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had to park offsite, several blocks away, but they will transfer your luggage to and from the hotel. We had two rooms at the hotel, and we stayed in a family area that had a door off the hallway to both of our rooms. This is perfect if you have need to but your kids in one room and you/spouse in the other. The queen size rooms are not huge, but I found the room to be laid out very well. It really didn’t bother me at all that they are smaller than some of the hotels we stay at in the United States. Our rooms came with breakfast and it was wonderful. The presentation is beautiful. When you walk in it is a buffet but you can also order off the menu I suggest ordering the French toast. One of the best things about this hotel is air conditioning !!!! I can’t express enough how important it is when it is 95 degrees Fahrenheit outside. The air conditioner did not keep the room at a cool, 71 to 72° but very close. I hope to return to Strasbourg in the future, and I certainly will stay at Maison Rouge again.
Hotel Beaucour

We had an overall wonderful experience in the Hotel Beaucour. The staff was super-friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean and the interior of our room was cozy. The location was perfect; nestled in a beautiful neighborhood with cafés/bars/restaurants in front of your doorstep and right by the river, it is just a 3-min walk from the cathedral and the city centre. A parking lot is just opposite and the price is slightly reduced for hotel guests. We would definitely stay here again when returning to Strasbourg.
