Greyhound Hotel

The hotel had a lively outlook from the front opposite a lovely park where we enjoyed a morning walk after breakfast. The room was excellant with a comfortable bed, good quality pillows and duvet. Tea and coffee facilities also included and even a hair dryer. Bathroom was bright and towels were fluffy. Quiet location Enjoyed a lovely English breakfast for £13:50 the next morning which also includes cerals toast, tea juice and coffee

I have stayed here a few years ago and had no hesitation returning. It was as special as I remembered. Great comfortable room in a wonderful setting opposite the ponds and park . The fantastic couple on reception are so warm and welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Lovely lady Sharon who was so kind and helpful when I just got to breakfast at the last minute!. Collum on the desk sorted a small issue with the wardrobe immediately. The food also was fantastic, from the bar menu to the delicious Sunday roast. Cannot wait to return.

Really friendly and helpful staff especially Brooke. Beautiful pondside location. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Good value for money. The bar areas get very busy at weekends, but a good selection of spirits, wines and ales.

It is the second time we are staying at the Greyhound while visiting our daughter, it was as lovely as last year. Nothing is ever a problem, the staff is friendly and professional. The room always looks lovely, very clean and there is a nice attention to details. We cannot wait for our next stay.

Burns Night was absolutely fantastic! From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. The food, the host, and the overall atmosphere were simply second to none. It was a night full of warmth, laughter, and the kind of good vibes that come with celebrating a cultural tradition. The set menu was thoughtfully curated, ensuring that there was something for everyone, which was especially appreciated by those who might not be keen on haggis. It’s always a bit tricky when catering for a variety of tastes, but they managed to strike the perfect balance. Every dish was flavorful, and you could tell that care had gone into both preparation and presentation. The host did an exceptional job of keeping the energy high and making everyone feel welcome. Their knowledge of Burns and his works really added depth to the evening, and the way they weaved stories and history into the night made it feel even more special. The toasts and speeches were delivered with the right mix of humor and reverence, creating an engaging atmosphere that encouraged everyone to participate and enjoy the evening fully. It wasn’t just about the food and the toasts, but the camaraderie, the connections, and the shared celebration of Scottish culture that made it a memorable experience. Definitely an event worth attending again!

Popped into The Greyhound after a work meeting. Was greeted with a very warm welcome by the Landlady. Lovely traditional English pub. Food was fabulous, I tried the set menu, lovely fresh dishes at a great price. Will definitely return next time I’m in the area.
