Guest House Wakabaya

We had a great three-night stay here in the private room on the first floor. Takeshi was a wonderful host: he's genuine and friendly and made us feel right at home. He also was immensely helpful in recommending what to do in Takamatsu based on our interests. His English was very good, and he was always available and happy to chat. His attention to detail is everywhere -- from posting the current weather forecast every morning, to signs explaining how things work (the kitchen sink, the shower door, etc) in Japanese and English. The futons were comfortable, and everything was super clean and tidy. The guesthouse is fairly compact, and there were other families staying there at the same time, but we felt we had plenty of privacy when we wanted it, and could interact with others in the common area when we chose to. A bathroom or shower was always available when we needed one. We will definitely stay here if we return to Takamatsu!

The host is super friendly and gracious, and speaks excellent English. The place is sparkling clean and well organized. The location is residential, but close to a train station, therefore convenient for in-and-out shopping, dining, or sight-seeing. I highly recommend this guesthouse - better than hotels or ryokans.

I absolutely loved our stay at Wakabaya. As a tourist, it was wonderful to experience what a traditional Japanese house is like. I had never slept on a futon before and I found it very comfortable. The host is very friendly and gives great advice. I would recommend this guest house to anyone looking to have a unique experience in Japan.

Our family of three had a great time staying at Guest House Wakabaya during our visit to Takamatsu Shikoku. It was the closest thing to experiencing living with a local resident and learning more about the Japanese culture and their way of life.

This is a lovely welcoming guesthouse. It is clean and well equipped. Super tatami mat rooms with futons. Everything has been thought of. The host Mr Wakabaya is superb. Very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed and all the information we needed. Thank you!

Wonderful guesthouse with all the amenities you could wish for. Right on the Shikoku 88 route. Amazing (English speaking) host who provides you with plenty of helpful insights about Japan and/or Shikoku.
