I don’t know where to begin with this. We’d been to Ishigaki Island before but wanted to try somewhere more isolated this trip so booked in a few days at Hoshinoya Taketomi. It was incredible. The pick up at the port is efficient and fast. The arrival and welcome is like a warm tropical hug. Aya who greeted us and checked us in was so delightful and explained absolutely everything we needed to know. She was a real star throughout our trip and a testament to Hoshinoya’s impeccable levels of service. You get driven around the site on golf buggies which I always enjoy - although I felt guilty making the team carry my heavy suitcases around (I stopped them when I could!) The rooms are individual Okinawa-style houses and they are what really makes Hoshinoya special. You get a home away from home that is exquisitely designed, modern yet traditional, private, and well-equipped. The bedroom has an incredibly large bed that makes it easy to sleep. The bathroom is huge and really makes you want to spend time in it. We did in-room dining a couple of times and it is definitely not room service. It is next level. As guests stay in proper homes it really feels special. The menu features mainly Okinawa Japanese favourites and they’re all great. We had the beef sukiyaki on the last night which was one of the best meals of my life. The pool is a really unique feature of the property. It’s huge! The photos we saw online don’t do it justice - it is so welcoming and fun to spend time in. The only thing I wish they has was a way to have drinks outside by the pool - which is currently difficult given the issue the island has with overly friendly crows (Hoshinoya is apparently getting a hawk to deter them though). The lobby where guests congregate is a real centre of the hotel. They run lots of guest activities here such as daily Okinawan music shows, awamori tastings, and more. You can also get complimentary coffee, juices etc here. It’s great. The gift shop in it is awesome, too. The property is located within walking distance of everything on the island - although they run all sorts of convenient shuttle services to and from the beaches and central village. I really didn’t want to check out of this place that really felt like heaven on earth. I’d love to get back there someday. Thank you to the whole team - especially Aya and Yuki!

リゾートとは名だけのホテルでした。 コテージのドアは賃貸アパートレベルで、内側はボコボコになっていました。南側に窓を開けられるのに壁になっており、昼なのに薄暗く電気を点けなければいけませんでした。隣の部屋は同じ条件なのに南側に大きな窓が付いていました。運次第ですね。西側の窓は棕櫚のような大きな葉で外が見えず、上まで伸びていて星も見えない状態。星を見ようと外の椅子を探したら他の部屋の窓の真ん前で、申し訳なくて使えませんでした。 部屋は広くて清潔な感じですが、ユニットバスの設備はかなり古いようです。冷蔵庫は民宿かと思う程古く、製造年を見ようにも色褪せ汚れて全く読めませんでした。 温泉はあまり広くはなく清潔でした。 ただ、エアコンはあってもつけてなく、リモコンも見当たりませんでした。扇風機や冷水もありません。タオルも部屋から持って行かなければいけません。今回は料金が込みのプランでしたが、私にはお金を払ってまでの価値は感じられませんでした。日本最南端と最西端の温泉に価値を見出す方にはいいかも知れませんが…。 朝食は品数が少なく、味は普通。和洋食と書いてあるのにソーセージ以外はほほ和食で、パンもシリアルもありません。和風旅館ならわかりますが、リゾートホテルで…。 従業員さん達は感じが良かったです。海外含めいろいろリゾートホテルは廻りましたが、私にとってお薦めしたくなるホテルではありませんでした。その後に行ったホテルが、料金にほとんど差がなく素晴らしかったので…。

10月末に3泊４日で滞在しました。 大阪空港（伊丹）から沖縄経由で乗継しました。 石垣空港からはタクシーで石垣フェリーターミナルまで２５分程度です。 石垣フェリーターミナルから小浜島までは連絡船で２５分程度で到着。 ビーチサンダルは、石垣フェリーターミナルの売店で５００円で調達しました。 嫁は、はいむるぶしで約４倍程度の物（ブランド品）を購入しました。 小浜島に到着するとはいむるぶしのバスが迎えに来ており、宿まで１０分程度で到着です。 事前にアクティビティをいくつか予約していた為、アクテビティカウンターでチェックインできました。 アクティビティ、レストランの利用料金は、部屋付けでチャックアウト時に清算です。ビーチのカフェはその場で清算でした。 はいむるぶし内は大変にきれいで整備されており、さすがリゾートと感じました。 敷地は東京ドーム８ヶ程度だそうですが、芝生は見事でした。自動芝刈りロボットが頑張って芝刈りしている場所もあります。 敷地が非常に広いため、レンタルカートは必須です。レセプションに依頼すると送迎してもらえますが、行動範囲が限られます。 今回レンタルカート無しのプランでしたが、翌日から借り、敷地内をあっち、こっちと散策しました。レンタルカートも1つのアクティビティと考えると安く感じられます。 今回オーシャンビュースーペリアに宿泊しました。 目の前少し向こうに海が広がり、正面に黒島、右手方向に新城島が見え、眺望も良かったです。 各棟には無料で利用できる洗濯機と乾燥機がありお世話になりました。便利でした。 到着した当日は天気が良かったので、はいむるぶしビーチに行き、ビーチデッキチェアに寝ころび満点の星空を満喫しました。出来たら新月に行きたかった。 昼間は半そでTシャツで過ごせますが、夜のビーチは風が強く肌寒い感じです。 ベストシーズンは、7月～9月末だそうです。 10月に入ると風が強く、沖でのシュノーケリング・カヤック等中止になる日が多くなるそうです。実際、シーカヤック＆シュノーケリング、幻の島ツアーは中止になり参加できませんでした。 マングローブカヤックツアーに参加しましたが、なんと冒険家の八幡暁氏が案内人でした。小浜島の自然、マングローブの生態等非常に興味深い話を聞くことができました。 バギーツアーにも参加しました。短時間で名所めぐりできますが、コスパとツアー品質には疑問が残り改善が必要かと思いました。 ゆっくりの島探索には電動自転車をレンタルしシュガーロード、小浜港、細崎ビーチ、海人公園等を回りました。途中土砂降りとなり急いではいむるぶしまで帰ってきましたがびしょ濡れになりました。ここぞとばかり、無料の洗濯機と乾燥機を活用させていただきました。 島めぐりはアップダウンが多く、電動キックボードか電動自転車が必須です。人力自転車は厳しいです。電動キックボードは人気で、すぐにレンタルなくなります。 センター棟前には、ヤギと水牛、アヒルが飼育されています。 ヤギとアヒルは触れ合えます。餌は100円で買えます。ただし、買ったとたんヤギの目の色が変わります。 大浴場、露天風呂もあり、サンセットが風呂から眺めれました。 夕食は、ビュッフェ、バーベキュー、鍋を頂きましたが、大変美味しかったです。ただしリゾート価格です。朝食は、無料のシャンパンとペリエの提供があり頂きました。 石垣は3回訪問していますが、はいむるぶしは　また訪れたい場所となりました。

以前日帰りでコンドイ浜を訪れた際に、1度は竹富島に泊まりたいなと思い予約しました。 結果最高の体験が出来ました。 8歳と5歳の子連れです。 それぞれヴィラタイプの客室で広さは充分。 トイレもお風呂場も水回りも綺麗でした。 ホテルの方も皆さんフレンドリーで、 5歳児がしきりに話しかけても快くご対応下さいました。 また度々カブトムシやヤモリなど見つけては子どもに説明してくださったり、花火をする際には大人用の椅子を用意していただいたりと常にお気遣いいただきありがたかったです。 極めつけはやはり中庭での天体観測。 言葉では表現できないほどの息を呑む光景です。 これは竹富島でここに泊まった人間がだけが体験できるものかもしれません。 また売店もありますので、中庭でお酒を1杯やるのも最高です。 非常に良心的価格です。 ご飯は朝、夕と味、ボリュームともに大変満足出来ますが、一方で子どもにはかなり量が多いかも知れません。 5歳児の方は食事無しプランでしたが、ご飯はついてましたので大人のおかずを少しあげる程度で大丈夫でした。 8歳児の方は結果半分くらい残ってしまい、大人の1人前食べられる子であれば問題ないかと思います。 コンドイ浜にも近く、各食堂にも歩いて行ける場所です。 食後に西桟橋まで散歩に行くとちょうど夕暮れ時でした。 一寸先が真っ暗な夜、誰もいないコンドイ浜の朝焼け。 竹富島に泊まる際にはいいロケーションだと思います。 また竹富島に行く機会があれば泊まりたい宿です。

Perfect getaway from Tokyo! Painumaya was an excellent choice as our introduction to Iriomote. The location was excellent: away from other spots on the island, we had an unobstructed view of the Milky Way at night. We could walk across the street to the beach to watch the sunrise. And the hotel is basically in the middle of the jungle so all we heard at night were various animal calls. This isn’t a place to go if you want a bustling nightlife. This is a place to go to get away from it all. We are two native English speakers who live in Tokyo, and we’re vegetarians. We chose this hotel because they were willing to remove meat from the dishes on their menu for us. Not everyone on the staff spoke English, but even those who didn’t did their best to communicate with us using a translation tool. The hotel offered excursions that were non-impact on the environment. We went on the 2 hour trek and canoe trip, and the 1 hour night walk. Both were exceptional, even when we didn’t understand everything being said by our Tourguides. It was all worth it. A few notes about the premises: - the pool is currently closed (Covid) - same for the public bath - the hotel is in the middle of the jungle - if you don’t want insects or lizards in your room you need to keep the balcony door closed. We enjoyed watching the one lizard that found its way in eat all of the flies that had been annoying us. - the hotel is trying to be low impact, and the island is working to eliminate plastic. For this reason there were no free small toiletries: bring your own. Also, they won’t come in and change the bedding and towels unless you ask - to save energy. As we are eco-conscious, we were fine with all of this. Some other guests complained, though. Also: you have to plan how to get there thoroughly: they offer a free shuttle to/from Ohara port but it’s not available all day. Same for the bus. Taxis are limited. Don’t get stranded at the port due to poor planning! We enjoyed every part of our stay with them and will definitely be back with our friends!
