We stayed 4 nights in Taormina as a base for both exploring the Ionian Sea side of Sicily and experiencing the wonderfulness of Taormina. Villa Schuler was perfect because: the location allows 10 minute walk to spectacular ancient temple at the top of Taormina, steps away walk to main street that goes through town, private short cut through back gate to town (after passing through beautiful garden), very attentive staff, space available for any guest to read, chat, sit on 4th floor solarium (if rainy) and porch as well as large terrace on hillside a few steps down from registration desk. Turns out that nice to have small turnout by Villa Schuler for pick up or drop off by car (because extremely narrow streets with limited parking). Highly recommend choosing sea view (so you have small private balcony) and prepaid breakfast (so you don’t worry about cost of specific choices to order).

I stayed in 3 hotels as I traveled through Sicily for 12 days, and this hotel was hands down a 5 star. From the amazingly friendly staff, to extra blankets in the room. From a clothesline in the bathtub to lines with clothespins on the balconies. The view of Mt. Etna and the ocean. The food! We have just returned from our stay at the villa. We loved that it was a family owned/smaller boutique hotel. The hotel is located a street below the main Corso or walking street and sits on the side of the mountain with splendid views. Our room was one of the top floor suites with a large balcony. We loved to watch the sunset and boats in the bay below each day. The staff were very accommodating and helpful to organize dinners and a day at the beach. Breakfast was wonderful with many options. If you want to be right in the middle of town and able to walk everywhere easily then this is the hotel for you! However, once you step into the garden it is peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

If you’ve read some of the reviews before this one, you know Hotel Villa Schuler is a diamond among the many gem accommodations of Taormina! My wife and I seek out places to stay like Villa Schuler and we found possibly our favorite stay from a long and varied list of travels! For all the reasons that can be found in the other reviews here. As for our personal experience, we found all the staff to be absolutely wonderful. We truly felt like we were treated as friends and not just hotel guests to be waited on. When we arrived at our room, we were delighted to find that it was unique in that it had 2 balconies! As far as we could tell, ours was one of only 2 like this. We recommend room #6 or the one directly above it. I’m guessing the suites on the top floor are even better but obviously with a higher rate. An added feature of the corner room with the 2 balconies is that it created great airflow in the room. Always very comfortable. This trip was so great and largely made possible through the incredible Hotel Villa Schuler. For better or worse, Taormina seems to be experiencing rapid growth at the moment because of The White Lotus series. If you want to be a part of the old charm and beauty of Taormina, choose Hotel Villa Schuler. You will fall in love with it!

‘Heaven is a place on Earth’. This is how I felt with every step I took whilst walking around the beautiful gardens from Villa Schuler in Taormina. We chose this amazing villa as it has one of the most scenic views around the coast to Etna and the sea and every morning for breakfast we would admire the surroundings that looked like a painting. Our room was at the third floor and we’ve had a lovely terrace with two sunbeds and we even got to enjoy some sun baths during this time of the year, which was amazing. The staff was extremely nice & helping and it made our stay truly incredible. If you want to have a beautiful and relaxing stay in Taormina, I really recommend this hotel. Cannot wait to come back soon!

We were married in an intimate wedding ceremony at the hotel in October of 2024. The hotel helped us plan the entire ceremony. All of the staff were so kind and helpful. Simona, Elena, Giada, Eric, the entire hotel staff and most especially Mariangela did such a wonderful job creating a perfect day for us. It was like being in a dream! The rooftop setting overlooking the Ocean and Mt. Etna cannot be beat and the hotel gardens made for beautiful pictures. All of the hotel vendors, the celebrant, photographers, hairdresser, the lively musicians and our wedding tuk tuk driver were all the very best and they went above and beyond to create a perfect day. Every part of our stay at the hotel was the very best. The rooms, the breakfast terrace, the history and again the kindness of all of the staff cannot be beat. We will never forget our visit and can't wait to come back to this special place. Other reviews describe the hotel as a piece of heaven on earth and it truly is.

Hotel Villa Schuler was recommended by a Sicily Facebook group I was following while preparing for our first time trip to Sicily. I am so happy I took this suggestion for our stay in Taormina. It was my favorite town and favorite hotel of our trip. Everything from the front desk staff, the cleaning of our room, the views, and the best location to walk right out the back of the hotel through their gorgeous gardens right into town. The main pedestrian street in Taormina is only a few steps away but far enough that there was no noise. There’s plenty to see within walking distance and they have a shuttle to the beach. We had a garden view room because the sea views rooms were all booked. We were perfectly happy with our room and the view of the garden was beautiful. The views from the rooftop are amazing. The sea, Mt Etna, what more could you want. I highly recommend this hotel and if I return to Taormina someday I will only stay here.

This is where you need to stay when you come to taormina- charming property with its own private gardens is one of the best properties I have stayed at in all my travels. Operated by the same family for more than 100 years, they make you feel like a long lost relative coming home. Comfy, well appointed rooms with balconies overlooking the water, made to order breakfasts on the terrace, stunning roof top deck with clear views of Mt Etna and the water. Love this place!

We loved our stay at Hotel Villa Schuler! The room and bathroom were very large in size and filled with amenities. And the location! Beautiful views of the coast from our room and the back entrance through the gorgeous garden puts you right in the city centre. The staff were so friendly and extremely helpful. Cannot recommend this hotel enough if staying in Taormina.
