The Commercial Hotel

Absolutely brilliant meal. Really extensive menu. Staff were really lovely and helpful. They were polite, attentive and friendly. This was our first visit but it definitely won't be the last. I'd definitely recommend this to others, in fact I've told lots of friends about our positive experience at The Commercial Hotel.

We stayed 2 nights, arriving on motorcycles; there is a quiet car park to the rear of the hotel. Our room had twin beds and a bathroom with bath, which after a cold day's biking was bliss - lots of hot water! The staff were super friendly, and breakfast was plentiful. We ate supper in the restaurant one evening, again with plentiful tasty food. I'd recommend it!

My stay at The Commercial Hotel exceeded all expectations. The facilities, cleanliness and hospitality were amazing, the attention to detail five star. This alongwith the breathtaking views made my stay one which I didn't want to end! Thank you to everyone at The Commercial who made my holiday fabulous.

Impolite and foul mouthed owners with a chronic understaffment. Waiting times are excessive and main hall smells from the unclean toilets. Food is batch prepared in advance and was cold in centre in this instance a steak pie that was microwaved. Bar staff were friendly but wine glass was dirty and covered in lint. Bar staff constantly being shouted from bar causing long waiting times at dirty bar. Undermotivated over worked staff results in a genuinely depressing atmosphere. Avoid at all costs

I thoroughly recommend The Commercial Hotel in Tarland and have stayed there 3 times in the last month, either with my wife or on my own. It is a Deeside country hotel, not a resort. It doesn’t have a swimming pool but it has parking, an area to sit outside when it’s warm enough, a public bar and a restaurant. Its range of food is surprising. Everything I have had is delicious and in generous quantities. I recommend the beef and Guinness pie and sticky toffee pudding - both found in hotels all over the northeast but really excellent in Tarland. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped - good pressure in the showers, large towels, plenty of hot water. And you will be warm. The breakfast is equally good - both a cold buffet and a choice of cooked dishes. It’s efficient and friendly and has parking at the back. Excellent place.

The food had great selection of gluten free options , was delicious and the portion size was satiating . Very , very good value for less money than neighbouring local establishments . We had roast pork with roast potatoes and separate plate of vegetables. Sticky toffee pudding and crumble .
