We spent three nights at this very comfortable hotel in Taupo in early June. We were visiting our daughter who lives in the town but didn’t have enough room for us to stay. I was after a hotel with a view of the beautiful lake, but still within walking distance to town as we didn’t have a car. Suncourt Hotel fitted the brief perfectly. We booked a Premier Deluxe Lakeview Studio room. The room that we were allotted was on the top floor. There was no lift, so you needed to climb the outdoor steps with luggage. Our room was very large, with a king size bed, a desk, two comfortable chairs and a coffee table. The bathroom was huge with a walk-in shower and a free-standing bath. There was also a very large balcony with a stunning view of the lake and a further two chairs and a small table. The reception staff were very helpful not only with our original reservation, but also when we needed to add a night and with any questions that we had. The only downside to me was that their restaurant was not open on the evening that we checked in, which was Sunday, and also not for breakfast on the Monday morning. We did know this in advance though, and as the town was easily walkable it wasn’t a problem. We had two breakfasts in the restaurant, and they were excellent. As we had other dinner plans, we didn’t have dinner in the restaurant, but our daughter and her partner have eaten there and loved it. If you are looking for a very large hotel room with a view, then Suncourt is for you. I believe they have much larger apartment style rooms which would be more suitable for families, although we didn’t get to see any of these.

Omg what a disgusting hole ! What they advertised was NOTHING like what we found .it was over grown and un kept , buildings surrounding were falling down and boarded up , looked like a budget camp ground that no one looked after . We were there 10 mins and decided no we couldn’t stay . We were met with attitude from the manager who refused a refund ( I’d already paid online ) . He tried to say it was fine and we could have another room , the room was the least of our worries it was the grounds were scary ! Granted i thought it was going to be a bit rustic , with cottage type feel, but after looking round I felt I would have been awake all night hoping I wasn’t murdered in my bed 😳 room also stunk like damp and mould , toilet wasn’t cleaned , the surroundings were over grown and it looked like a ghost town or setting from a horror film . Needless to say we didn’t stay and are still trying for a refund .

Been meaning to stay for years as rest of family have many times. Loved it, BUT....... security needs updating. Maybe they are doing that as toilet security door was missing and so was front access barrier! Had some very suspect people using toilet and shower facilities this morning. Definitely didn't look like guest and didn't have caravan or tent. By the look of the face tattoos looked like and behaved like gang members. Without security gates or doors they will just come in. Also some people had a lot of food- meat stolen from fridge. Sad. :( ALL THAT SAID- it's still a lovely camp. Facilities are clean, and good location next to hot pools and good sites with reasonable privacy on most sites. Would stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at Wairaki resorts, especially the swimming in the huge inviting pools heated thermally. One can take a short walk from the lower pool along a steaming hot creek that feeds the pools. Don't miss it. Our room was plainly furnished but very comfortable and well laid out. Fine sleeping in this quiet peaceful setting with only a lovely array of bird calls. The menu was a bit limited, but the meals were very good, and we particularly enjoyed the excellent and extensive breakfast buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. One can rent bikes, and I loved my hilly ride to a marvelous waterfall while my husband golfed at the beautifully laid out course next door.
