The best thing about this hotel is the location. Easy to get to, right across from the trains and buses. I actually made a mistake on booking the dates and they were able to accommodate the change last minute so I can't knock them for that. A great place for a home base to explore Venice Unfortunately that's about where it ends. I don't usually leave bad reviews for hotels but they left me no choice. We checked in at around 2PM and were given a room right next to the elevator and cafeteria. Immediately we noticed the B.O smell walking to our room. It was really bad. Rooms are very tiny which is fine since the city itself is small. Anywhere we check in we make sure to inspect the rooms for bed bugs, and cleanliness. It was satisfactory when we arrived. The safe wasn't working so we had to call for a tech and waited for him to come fix it. We left to explore the city and arrived back at night. I was in the cafeteria ordering food but my wife went to the room and went straight to the bathroom but when I came in I immediately noticed a terrible odor. I looked on the floor and noticed there were brown spots all over the floor. I called the receptionist and he was very apologetic and questioned if it was on our luggage or shoes which we immediately showed him it wasn't. He changed our rooms to next door. We were only in Venice for 1.5 days basically and was too tired to deal with it so we did not check the current room (which admittedly was our own fault.) The room they gave us was dirty and had blood stains in the bathroom on the toilet that we didn't notice until checkout. At that point with the condescending response we just wanted to leave and get out of there. The next day we spoke to someone in charge and he was extremely condescending and basically insinuated that this was our own doing and our fault. We requested to speak to a manager in charge but they weren't there at the day, and requested a call back but that never came. They did however email us and insinuated the same thing that this was our own doing and our own fault. The entire exchange was very unprofessional. They blamed us saying we brought it in with our luggage and placed it on our bed (which I don't know anyone who does this but i digress) but we showed the reception that night and if we did have it on our luggage it would've dragged across the lobby and carpet. The only thing I can conclude is they let someone into our room OR accidently assigned a room to someone and realized their mistake. Something like this would be immediately noticed when we first checked into the room if it came from us. Since the room was so small the smell immediately hits you and is visible as soon as the door opens. Again, I rarely place any bad reviews for hotels but this one I had to with their unprofessional response. They need training in customer service.
