We loved the Duke Hotel. The staff, such as reception folks Sharon, Jason, Raul and Sharlon were just so professional, helpful and friendly ... actually ... all the staff. We didn't catch all their names, but the breakfast servers and room attendants - everyone! This hotel gives knowledgeable advice on local buses to interesting villages and beaches, can assist with obtaining ferry tickets, and organize taxis etc. BTW, the breakfast selection was abundant and colourful. I thoroughly recommend The Duke!

Well, what a great hotel. We arrived on the opening day after a name change from the last hotel name (same owners, different name) We was meant to go to Las Vegas but it didn't happen so we went to Malta. The Hotel was stll being refurbished but a lot of the rooms was open, We was given room 3124 a gorgeous room, with a really nice view. We was shown to our room by Vikky (Viktoria, the Guest Relations Manager) after being checked in by Natalia (i think) We also got a bottle of wine for our long awaited honeymoon as our honeymooon kept being cancelled including the Las Vegas one. As Hilton Diamond members we get breakfast included in our room rate, Breakfast is an expansive affair with far too much to choose from, i went for Salad, i know, crazy right. but topped it off with a nice omelette. The outdoor pool is small but very good, the indoor pool much larger but far too hot for us. Service is great and fast, they was always out taking orders and bringing drinks quickly so you could enjoy more outdoor time. After a few days of being there we asked if we could upgrade to All Inclusive which turned out to be very good, we'd done everything we wanted to do in St Paul's bay so wanted to hang in or near the hotel. All the food is delicious and drinks, although confusing of what was allowed for AI customers, i made the suggestion of having a drinks menu of what drinks ARE allowed as we got a lot of you 'can't have that' A few members of staff made our stay really fantastic and always took the time to say hi and have a great conversation. These include Vikki (GRM) Lorenzo (bar supervisor) Jason in the same bar, always happy, always friendly and Desislav Juniper bar and other staff that we just didn't get their names. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the main Square with a vast amount of shops, bars and restaurants. This used to be the old Dolmen Hotel and they have retained a lot of their staff, it's been nice seeing them adapt to a new system which can be challenging but they will get there in time. At the time of writing this review, there still are building works going on but getting less and less as its all getting finished. I spent the first week in January here and went on to book three more weeks. There were a few problems in the second week but this was quickly sorted out by Trip.com and I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was fantastic. The junior suite was lovely with views of the city and the sea. The spa and pool section downstairs was a dream to use each time. A bus stop is right beside the hotel for getting out. Malta is easy to navigate once you get your bus pass at a shop up the road virtually opposite the hotel. The Hotel restaurant is great. Some places around the hotel also serve good food. Try the sandwiches at the “homemade” shop. The salmon salad and the salmon wrap are delicious. Mellieha is the northernmost part of Malta so it takes time getting to other places. Helpful to plan journeys with the bus schedule online if using public transport.

Magnifique hôtel . Tout était parfait . La chambre est très propre , la piscine à l'étage est superbe . La spa est très grand . Le personnel est attentionné . Le quartier est animé donc on entend de la musique mais cela ne dérange pas .

Starting with the information - we stayed at So City as a young couple (who arent particularly into nightclubs/bars) to see Matla for the first time over a week. I have given this a 'benefit-of-the-doubt' rating due to the hotel being incredibly new. We picked So City Hotel because of the value, it was incredibly well priced. I'd imagine this is a strategy due to it being so new but it was certainly well worth the price we paid. On to the hotel as a whole - I feel this is definitely aimed toward capturing people coming to Malta for some night life. Its positioned so that no more than 10 seconds from leaving the lobby, you can be in a bar, and their are some nice bars surrounding. That said, we werent there for that - but this location also meant that finding an evening meal, or a quick early night drink was incredibly easy. Exploring the island was also very easy from here, Valletta was a very short journey, and as we had opted to rent a car, there was a carpark about 5 minutes walk away (Pengardens) which is reasonably priced for over night parking, and we never struggled for a space. The room was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect and bedding very soft and comfortable. Our upgraded room was also incredibly spacious. The theming is a nice touch and makes the room a bit more characterful and individual. Staying on the 7th floor, there was minimal noise at night, altough id be concerned if we needed to keep the window open.... The black out curtains were also amazing for keep the room dark for a little bit of extra sleep. Constructive criticism for the room would be: The shower tempurture is difficult - the hottest setting is insanely hot (my other half loves hot showers but this was too much for her also) and it wouldnt go cold, just cooler, it also seemed to get colder through out the shower and you found yourself adjusting. There is not a lot of storage at all for longer stays. This is perhaps a by product of it feeling aimed towards 'nightlifers' who might stop 3 nights or so. I would perhaps ask reception for additional hangers if you have plenty of clothes for a longer stay. The mini fridge, altough useful, is not big enough to put larger water bottles in, which can be annoying. The aircon unit is situated in a place which means it blows directly at the bed. I tried to play with the control but there was no way to adjust it that I could find. Im trying to cool the room, not refridgerate myself. The timer on the aircon also didnt seem to work, so setting it the blow for 30 mins whilst i went to sleep just didnt seem to work. The TV is not a full smartTV which is a shame. Just channels and an internet browser, which are never nice to navigate around.... On to other notes: Breakfast is just what you need. Its not an all out buffett where there is everything you could dream of, but there is more than enough and a few items cycle so you can expect a slightly different breakfast each morning. Very nice place with two wonderful pools and a beach specific to those staying there. It is close the the ferry terminal for easy access to the other two islands. Spa was very nice they did a good job on my nails.

An enjoyable weekend break at Solana. The place is well positioned in the center of Mellieha to explore the town, v. nice view from the rooftop (attached a pic) that they also highlight as instagram-worthy. I rated the location 4/5 because of the relatively minor difficulty to find close-by parking as you need to be careful due to limited hours, but I learnt after that the hotel offers limited parking spots against payment. Cleanliness and service both rated an excellent 5/5. The facilities were good, again they didn't merit a 5/5 only because of a couple of small issues: you can experience a relatively long wait for the 2 lifts (used by guests and staff) at peak times since the hotel consists of two connected buildings, the gym needs a spruce-up as the multi-use machine needs a good oiling and the treadmill's arm cushions easily came unstuck, and the rooftop pool water was slightly murky on Sat afternoon and Sun morning. Other than our studio apartment was a comfortable fit for a family of 4, that included a well-equipped kitchenette that we used on the second night when the kids fancied an evening in after a long day. And nice to see once again the old-school complimentary sewing needle and thread, as well as a good sized bathtub. Tea and coffee freebies were present in abundance in the room. Breakfast was delicious and they certainly got the bacon, sausages, eggs, pastry and yogurt right. All in all, a well-priced worthy consideration if you're staying in Mellieha.

We booked the penthouse room to have a terrace where one can enjoy the view with a cup of tea or a glass of wine Unfortunately the terrace has a very high wall and once you sit down the view succumbs to a horrendous wall. We had issues with the tv as it kept going out of the programm and we couldn’t watch anything. We do call and fair enough a very polite lady came to check the issue, she couldn’t at first and after 15 odd minutes she managed although she told us it could be a faulty box. After she left the same thing happened , we didn’t call again as she had to come back from another town and as we were there just for a day we opted not to. When we returned after a lovely and enjoyable dinner at the Rendezvous restaurant and went to sleep we noticed that 3 flood lights were left on all night and light was coming in the room as the curtains rail was around 10cm away from the wall. As I am a light sleeper I couldn’t sleep at all. Anyway in the morning we went down to a most enjoyable breakfast and went to pay for the night we spent . I never complained but I did tell the receptionist about the tv problem and I mentioned it so the next person won’t have the same issues. I sent an email pin pointing the issues we had , I never asked either for a discount or my money back. All I did raise the issues as they were easy to solve , and if they did they wouldn’t have to face unhappy clients. Well well all hell broke lose as all excuses under the sun came poring down, such as the floodlights have been put up just three weeks ago….. the horrendous wall is what it is and nothing can do about it as it’s an old wall … Then a phone came and I was told I was imagining things by this fine lady on the other side of the phone, now that’s customer care at it’s best . If she had the time to notice that i wasn’t asking for any money back then she wouldn’t have been so offensive and so defensive. Sorry Quant but the issues are easily tend to The terrace should have an elevated area where one can sit and enjoy the weather and the views and the light from the flood lights can easily be solved by fixing the curtain further closer to the wall . This will prevent the amount of light going in

We stayed at the Ta’ Cenc more than 25 years ago and fell in love with it then. Our return did not disappoint. What a magical location with expansive views of Gozo’s beautiful and peaceful landscape, looking back toward Comino and Malta proper. The hotel is classically lovely, all on one level and spread out over the spacious property which the architecture of the resort compliments. We had a trullo which we greatly enjoyed with its ample living space and attractive patio. The people who wrote reviews complaining about the age of the bathroom spigots and the like - all of which worked just fine for us - seemed to miss the point of a place which has a timeless quality and cozy feel. The friendly resort imprinted cats are a happy addition. The staff, both at reception and in the restaurant were all exceptionally kind and helpful. There were a lot of delicious choices at breakfast and we really enjoyed the prix fixe options at dinner. The amuse bouches were great and the chef is very talented. We had every intention of dining at different restaurants on Gozo but liked the food at Ta’ Cenc so much that we ate there every one of our 3 nights. We look forward to staying at Ta’ Cenc again.
