We have had great experiences with this chain and how they treat veterans. So when in Centerville for some antiquing we decided to stay here. First off, all the staff we encountered were first rate, friendly, professional, and focused on providing great service. The hotel itself however is in serious need of repair and renovations. First clue was the alarm at the front desk that kept going off and apparently has been needing repair for over a month. Our room reeked of onions and the bathtub/shower floor was very worn/ stained a grayish color. There were no USB charging ports in the room except one on the TV which only worked if TV was on. Also no electrical outlets in the bathroom for hair dryers, shavers, etc. Mattress was way to soft, more like an understuffed feather pillow which provided no support for back. Overall cleanliness of room needed improvement as well. We even found items on floor from previous guests which vacuuming would have picked up. Until the chain decides to put necessary funding in for repairs and renovations we discourage people from staying here despite great staff.

The only thing I can say positive about this hotel is that check in was easy and the room was clean. The stairways look like something from the dark ages and the walls were dirty and paint was chipped. Except for the gentleman that checked us in the customer service skills were lacking from the employees we dealt with. After going swimming the evening we arrived, we only stayed one night thank goodness, we took our clothes and towels to dry them and when we arrived in the laundry room someones clothes were in the dry but we forgot some stuff so I went back downstairs to get it and my fiancee waited there. During the time we arrived and I returned with the other items it was about ten minutes and no one had come to take their clothes out of the dryer so she took the clothes out of the dryer and placed them in the basket that was on the dryer and put our stuff in the dryer and inserted the quarters. While she was trying to find the start button to start the dryer the guest who's clothes were in the dryer came in and asked why we took his clothes out of the dryer. As stated it was at least 10 minutes since the dryer stopped, I work in a hotel and have experienced many times when guests just leave their clothes in the dryer and go somewhere else and don't return for a long period of time and we just tell the guests to go ahead and remove the clothes and place them on top of the dryer plus I have even seen some hotels that have signs up asking you not to leave your clothes sitting in the machines, washer/dryer, and say your clothes can be removed at your own risk, and he stated that his clothes were still damp, which when my fiancee put his clothes in his basket it was only his socks. By this time we had started the dryer and he stated he was going to stop the dryer and take our clothes out and he attempted to but when he opened the door I slammed it shut and stood in front of it. He got into my face and said we weren't going to dry our clothes and proceeded to unplug the dryer. At this point what I believe to be two Front Desk Clerks came in and asked what was going on and I proceeded to tell them what happened and I was told to shut up and they asked him what happened. He told his story and said that the only reason he didn't kick my butt was because I was old and my fiancee said who are you calling old and again the bigger of the ladies told her to shut up and let him continue. He then stated that he wanted to pick up the dryer and throw it at me and when I said I wish you would have I was again told to shut up. One of the ladies, I'm not sure offered to take his clothes downstairs and finish drying them for him and the older clerk proceeded to plug the dryer back in so we could finish drying out clothes. The next morning we went into the breakfast area to eat and were very disappointed. All the other Holiday Inn Expresses we have stayed in have had biscuits and gravy but this one didn't. A++++ Pete and his stall are amazing, A friendly smile in the afternoon from his staff, Pete walked around the hotel multiple times a day and when I asked him about that he told me he wanted make sure there are no issues with the outside of the property and it is clean, room did not smell like deodorizer the bathroom was clean, the shower was clean and the best part it did not need any maintenance, I enjoyed the breakfast in the morning, I did not like the waffle maker instead of a one size waffle it makes three little ones which is a little hard to maneuver on the plate and can get messy when using a plastic nife/fork, I would recommend sausage patties and sliced cheese every day as I could’ve put them in between the two little waffles and made a breakfast waffle sausage sandwich, I will be back next year to visit the Wright, Patterson Air Force Base, and the Kil-Kare Drag*****,

Easy access off interstate. Nice, clean , big rooms. Front desk clerk VERY nice and helpful. Breakfast was back to a Hot Buffet which had numerous items and VERY delicious. We were there for March Madness First Four and location was 12 minutes to University arena. Will definitely make this a yearly short vacation.
