The Granby Hotel

What a delightful pub, it wasn’t too busy as it’s just out of the town centre with lovely friendly staff serving very good beer, dogs are welcome and the food says home cooked and it actually is. Real chips. Service was great. Toilets are very clean also

We had some really tasty home made meals in the Granby this evening. All three of us enjoyed them and finished with 3 empty plates. All of the staff seemed very friendly and helpful. We've been in there for drinks a few times this week, but as the food on other people's tables looked so good we decided to not bother cooking tonight. It was a good decision.

Wow ! After being here 2 days and eating out on the front at silly tourist prices we tried this place as its was on the way back to our b&b . Wish we had discovered it on the first day as we would have made it a regular for our meals and saved a pretty penny also . The pub itself is traditional and not massive and the menu is not that extensive but the food was fabulous home cooked and very large portions. Hubby had gammon egg and chips and said it was the nicest gammon he’d had in a long time ,chips were proper home cooked chips as were the onion rings . I had cottage pie with veg and this again was a very generous portion and at less than £25 for both of us absolutely amazing value for money . I would highly recommend this hidden gem especially if on a budget and bothams bakery is just over the road if you’ve any room for dessert which I very much doubt will be the case .

Enjoyed this friendly pub with a nice atmosphere and good staff. Did not try the food but had a few drinks over the May bank holiday. The food looked good and lots of people were eating so we will try next time as had made other arrangements. Has music Friday/ Saturday nights and packed out with Harley Davison bikers. Good vibes and will return.

Food was ok staff was pleasant room was not good needs a lot of TLC room showed signs of damp bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept on. Came back with more aches and pains than I went with. The staff were lovely but more needs to be done with the rooms.

We booked up at the Granby for my birthday weekend. What an amazing experience we had from start to finish. When we arrived we were met by pleasant staff who helped us with the car parking, luckily we were in the right area so 2 seconds walk from car to the hotel. As we had arrived early we werent expecting to check in, but we told the rooms were ready so were taken up to the room (We had the flat) and helped by one member of staff with our case. Upon going into the flat, we were “wowed” at this, it was lovely, clean and very fresh, it was also very homely, once we had unpacked in our room, we went downstairs to have a drink and await the rest of our party, once who had a separate double room in the hotel. The bar itself again was very clean, and all the staff we lovely and welcoming. Once all our party had arrived we had a neb of the separate room, again this was up to a very high standard, very clean and fresh and also very bright. Staff very helpful when we asked for a fan for the room, was no effort at all to provide this. We had a meal in the pub which was lovely, all homemade/home cooked and would highly recommend. All very reasonably priced to. The beds were lovely and comfortable, very good sized to so you weren't on top of each other. Kitchen located in the flat was very handy to allow you to have tea/coffee and also cold drinks for the mornings. All in all we will be looking to use this hotel in the near future, but would also HIGHLY recommend to anyone who is going to Whitby.
