well run little resort located in a great place

Even though it was a remote location and we were there out of season, everything was fine. The room and service were good and the food in the restaurant was great.

Great stay, clean bathroom in the ikari safari tents. Overall would recommend if visiting Wilpena Pound

Where to start! The resort was full and we booked late so we had to pay $390 for a room that is usually $97 cheaper. It was so over priced it was a disgrace. It was an "un renovated room", I was told by reception. The bathroom : The exhaust fan was broken and falling out of the dirty window. There was mould everywhere. The floor was dirty. The toilet was dirty. The restaurant dinner was just okay, similar to pub food. The breakfast buffet was terrible. Two bus loads of people had eaten there and no one had cleaned up the entire time. Consequently there was spilled food, crumbs, cereal on the buffet and the sorriest looking fruit plate I've seen. A previous review said it was like being at a school camp. That's not correct, school camps I've seen are far nicer. Don't stay here. Camp if necessary. I stayed at the "resort" about 15 years ago it was lovely. What a shame it has come to this.

We have just spent 4 days at the resort on a photographic tour with a group of people. The resort is fantastic, accomodation basic but clean and had everything we needed. The food for the most part was great, great bar and atmosphere. The resort has an IGA with fuel and visitors centre. Staff were fantastic especially the Operations Manager and her partner who we got acquainted with around the fire pit. They were very informative and genuinely seeking positive and negative feedback. They were genuinely interested in our experience, who can was awesome. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and service was impeccable. Such a beautiful part of Australia with heaps to see and do, an easy drive from Adelaide . Highly recommend visiting Wilpena Pound Resort!

It may have been because of the recent transfer of management, but looking at the background reviews from the past few months, it seems that the issues we faced were not unique. For an iconic destination, with all the potential in the world, our stay was dissapointing to say the least. The food is good, but as a group you are placed in a corner of the dining space with long tables, and bain maries for dinner. The so called buffet dinner was 2 protein 2 veg and a bread roll. The dessert - cake straight from Sarah Lee. To be fair the main course was very tasty - but then we may also have been incredibly hungry, with the 'buffet' arriving 1.5 hours after we were told to be in the dining hall. Our group made the comment it was like eating at a school camp. The rooms are ok, however our bed slid across the floor until I jammed it with some shoes. there are no rugs or anything to keep them in place. No idea why our rooms stank of bleach, and then were recleaned with bleach whilst we were there (2 nights) but the beds werent made, cups not cleaned etc. It was so strong, we could smell it on our hands for 2 days afterwards. We had thought it would be the highlight of the 11 day outback tour - instead, it was universally agreed by our party that it was by far and away the most memorable for all the wrong reasons. I personally would find it hard to recommend to anyone which saddens me as I would love to see Australia lift its game in tourism. Seriously - this could be wonderful.

We stayed 5 nights in a Ikara Glamping tent which was comfortable & quiet. Heating was good as nights & mornings were cool. These tents have no wifi but around the resort restaurant & reception area it is strong. The staff were friendly & helpful & our experience booking accommodation & later some tours was excellent. The restaurant offered a great variety of food & it was interesting & delicious. The scenery is amazing, night sky is breathtaking, walks are interesting & plenty of wildlife to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Halle in the lunch/ dinning room provided us excellent service two days in a row. Great to have a conversation with someone local. Service was efficient and friendly. Lovely environment with a smile on her face. Allan and Lily ( W.A.). Thank you Halle
