Staying overnight for my friend's birthday, who booked the room. Because of a very helpful 'Barry' in reception at Winchester premier inn, we had a lovely comfortable room. There was Wine in the fridge on arrival with a birthday note, great facilities, in walking distance to town and adequate parking. Overall very happy and will come again.

Overnight stop in Winchester. Hotel was good and would use again. We don't usually use evening meal facility, but we did and it was ok, but not fine dining. About a mile from town centre, which we went to the following morning. We also managed to find a street parking space. Nice town.

Accommodation v good. We went for the meal deal and were disappointed with the quality and availability of menu items for the evening meal. Went for the “Ice cream Sunday with Cadbury’s caramel nibbles with whipped cream and chocolate flake sprinkles. Came with no cream, no chocolate sprinkles and 4 chocolate buttons. I did question it, but - apparently - run out of chocolate sprinkles (and cream and caramel nibbles?!) Main meals also a bit disappointing in quality and quantity.

Staff wonderful, hotel on last legs - our room dreadful prob oldest ie untouched room in any Premier Inn. Breakfast was very disappointing nil like other Prem Inns such as Bournemouth - and evening meal not nice. How the staff manage to keep smiling well they deserve a medal. Even the location was misleading as we needed one if not two buses to get to main bit of Winchester. Looked like the building used in “The Office” - drab and yes third mention, if not for staff we’d have walked out. Dire.

I stayed on Christmas night so perhaps not typical experience. Staff were friendly and didn't resent being there. The value for money is pretty good, the dining area is decent enough and the mattress comfortable. I prefer rooms with radiators than aircon in winter, so I had my usual issue of finding it bit too noisy at night, but I'm quirky like that. There's free wi-fi but it's not as good as the £5 (a day?) upgraded service, so you might want to be aware of that. Bathroom is ok, there's no delay running hot water but don't expect bath robes or any kind of extras beyond the standard three towel routine. But they have rooms with baths, which is good. There's a cheap, not free, carpark. All in all it was fine.

We stayed at the Premier Inn as we were watching the pantomime - Mother Goose - at The Theatre Royal in Winchester. The hotel is located about a 20 minute walk from the centre of town, which was fine for us. It was very reasonably priced and if you are happy with the distance to the town centre it is good value for money.
