Rooisand Desert Ranch

We would travel back to Namibia just to stay at Rooisand. We are a family of four with two children under 10. What your bed feels like (very comfortable), or how big your room is (fine for a young family of four), how you like the food (delicious), the speed of wi-fi (I don't want to use this on holiday) is subjective - what is not - is the kindness of our hosts, the beauty of the environment, the stars at night and a place just to be - that is why we will come back and keep coming back. And we also enjoy a swim and a game of tennis. Perfect. Thank you for having us.

Rooisand is a true oasis in the middle of the rugged savannah, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Almost a botanical garden with a central pool forms the heart of the complex. During the day you can go on hikes through the red sands and mountains from here, and at night you can watch the stars even better. You can even book real star tours and look at the sky through telescopes. The accommodations are completely adequate and well-kept, the meals are excellent, and the dinner is particularly noteworthy. The a**osphere on Rooisand is familiar and pleasantly quiet. The employees really work hard when it comes to the well-being of their guests. Rooisand is definitely recommended, for those traveling through or for a longer stay.

My girlfriend and I were able to spend two nights in this wonderful place and had an overall great experience there. The lodge is beautifully embedded in a hilly landscape and offers a lot of activities. The starry sky and the sundowner drive are particularly impressive. a real experience! The owners and staff at Rooisand are incredibly warm and you feel very welcome there. Last but not least, the food there is wonderful! In addition to the game meat from their own hunt, many of the other products, such as the bread, are homemade or come from their own vegetable garden. Rooisand is simply recommended!

The overall experience was excellent for learners and also teachers. For future camps we would like to prolong our stay at the lodge. The reason being, we could exhaust all the educational activities on offer. NB:Just a humble request from the teachers side to include a mattress on the cement bed!

Not many campsites were available in this area at the time of booking, Rooisand was really a great choice. Situated half-way between our road trip itinerary between Solitaire and Walvis Bay, it was like arriving to an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Fully gated and located in pristine semi-arid hinterlands- it is a safe bet if you want complete solitude. We stayed at a motorhome campsite with power supply and fresh water- campsite was nothing special, but we had a motorhome so we only needed the basics. This resort felt well-maintained and we were greeted by the host couple, super friendly, informative and they made us feel like home. Rooisand Desert Ranch felt very empty on arrival, and it seemed that we were the only ones here (except two other guests) - this was not a problem, but it almost felt like we got the whole resort for ourselves, an eerie but special touch. The hosts invited us for both dinner and breakfast, but at a charge. The pool and bar area was magnificent, we did not try the pool, not sure if it was heated. The greatest part of this stay was the astro tour - you simply have to take it, it was stunning and special. If you are not a fan of astronomy, it is still a magical moment to experience the Namibian night sky, with a full view of the Milky Way. A small note to you as a reader, if you book through Agoda or Booking (or any 3rd party site), make sure to settle the bill correctly before departing, as we almost got double charged, but it is nothing that affects the total review. All in all, we really felt taken care of during the whole of the stay - as mentioned in previous TA reviews of this resort - the host couple really made a difference, and this in not very common on similar resorts in other parts of the world. This is where Namibia started for us. Thank you.

We stayed at Rooisand Desert Ranch during Chris**as and it was a fantastic and memorable experience. We stayed at the Chalet up the mountain. Great place to stay in pure nature and in very special surroundings and the owners were fantastic during our stay. We all loved Rooisand

What an oasis of happiness in the middle of this magnificent desert landscape! We used Rooisand as a stopover on the way from Windhoek to Swakopmund. The facility is uniquely green and very well maintained - perhaps a bit conservative, but everything is super clean and in top condition. The hospitality is amazing. We had dinner and breakfast at the same table with other guests, which was very nice - the food was very lovingly prepared and delicious. We went for an early morning run to the observatory and enjoyed the great morning sun and views. Absolutely recommended - thank you to the hosts!

We had a very good time at the Rooisand Desert Ranch. The food was excellent and the team was very friendly. The Manager of the farm gave us very good insides of Namibia and created an "family" a**osphere - really outstanding !l
