"A popular stopping-off point for those recently arrived or soon to depart Namibia, the Heinitzburg brought our Namibian tour to a pleasant conclusion. Our enormous room was comfortable and clean. The room had a rear door leading to a patio by the pool. The pool is a popular spot for guests to relax before undertaking the next stage of their journey. It’s an enticing suntrap, even in the depths of winter. The centre of Windhoek (Christuskirche, Independence Avenue and the rest) is an easy and safe daytime walk from the hotel. I wouldn’t call it a particularly pleasant walk, but it’s worth taking the opportunity to visit the centre if you have time. One of the key attractions of the Heinitzburg is the restaurant, Leo’s at the Castle. It’s a fine dining restaurant and our meal was by far the most expensive in Namibia. It was the final evening meal of our trip and ensured we concluded things in style. Breakfast is served in a separate area inside the castle. Here the Germanic origins of the building are brought to the fore. It felt a little cramped inside the breakfast room, but perhaps dining outside is an option at other times of the year. The Heinitzburg is home to a lively flock of lovebirds. They seemed to be enjoying the excellent hospitality of the Heinitzburg just as much as the human residents."

The manager unfortunately was very rude and embarrassed her staff in front of us , not good! Also the waitress told us that if we tipped her by signing the bill to our room she would not receive the tip .. so we gave her cash …. The marriot higher ups should be aware of this !"

"Windhoek needs a top quality hotel and the Olive Exclusive could be fabulous Arrived to find a glorious room bathed in sunshine but soon found that maintenance was severely lacking. The door lock did not work and the room was freezing cold as it transpired that the heating units were actually set to cooling. Three visits later (including from the head of maintenance) nobody could do anything and they produced a small old oil filled radiator. When I tackled the manager at dinner on this she looked at me and said well are the units set the heating rather than cooling. In one visit from her it was sorted - none of the people who had been to the room to look at this were able to identify the problem - complete lack of training - how about some instructions in the room? Dinner was equally uninspiring - ordered a fillet steak almost London prices to be presented with a tough cold piece of meat which is clearly been reheated - sent it back they cut it in half put it on the grill and returned it lukewarm. I sent it back again and said I wanted a new piece of fillet and it was delicious - complete try on to get me to eat old meat? This hotel could be fabulous if only they could get everyone in the place to be as efficient and friendly as the reception lady who greeted me when I arrived Completely unmet potential"

"A clear recommendation. A very nice, well-maintained, and stylishly designed hotel in a quiet area of Klein-Windhoek. We stayed here at both the beginning and end of our tour. Large rooms with walk-in showers, clean and comfortably furnished. The open lounge with its well-stocked honesty bar or the pool are great places to relax. Parking is available on the property. Breakfast is served with a Jura espresso machine."

"Location is center! Careless staff, heater in room not working, we call reception came checked and said they will bring heater to room, that heater never cane to our room. WiFi not working we called reception they said we will bring new code to your room, we said we just got a code downstairs an hour ago and that was working staff said manager likes to change the code. WHAT! WHY?! That’s annoying keep changing code. However the code never came to our room. 45 min later we are in bed reception calls our room asking if we still need heater ? What a joke ! Phone in room is not dialing the reception so we had to keep going down the stairs if we needed something."

"Definitely not worth 5 stars! The entire building is extremely overdue. Broken chairs and sunbeds, mold running from the pools. The breakfast was very poor. Some fruit, white bread and yogurt without bowls to put it in. We had a good laugh about it and are glad we went out for a nice meal last night instead of eating here. The room was full of dead moths, but was okay for a night. Few staff walking around and those walking around can't even say hello."
