Yakinthos Hotel

前不着村後不着地，不建議定在這裏，空調製冷也不行，熱到無言以對。

We were very pleasantly surprised by this great hotel/apartments . It is located about 15 minutes from the airport. We were self catering and travelled with JET2. Check -in is from 2pm rooms are a nice size with balconies and double doors .We requested ground floor because of mobility issues. Reception is manned and open from 8a.m-midnight and breakfast is available from 8.30-12.30 swimming pool is open from9.00am to 8.30 pm . The bathroom is very small but the facilities were good .However, it is virtually impossible to keep the water in the shower tray. There is a charge for the safe ,television and air conditioning .The air conditioning is 8 Euros per day but with temps being 30 degrees plus it is almost impossible to sleep without it . You are also charged the tourist tax 3 euros per person per night when you arrive. You are provided with a bath towel and a hand towel each but will be charged per item for anything you damage. Towels are changed every second day and linen every third day. The cleaning staff are good ,fair and nice people . Any issues are dealt with on the same day and the owner pays close attention to ensure they are done correctly. Midnight to 07..00am is considered quiet time so noise during these hours is prohibited .However the road that the hotel is on (main road into Laganas is noisy with motorbikes ,scooters and quad bikes most of the time. The hotel is situated 25 minutes walk from Laganas main *****. The pool bar and snack bar is good ,nice friendly helpful staff .The club sandwich ,chicken Gyros and the crepes are delicious and good value for money ,however the full English breakfast is awful! Only Food and drink purchased from the pool bar and restaurant is allowed to be consumed at the poolside . There are supermarkets open either side of the apartments ,the larger one is open until the early hours ? the smaller one is open until 11.30 pm . The rooms are equipped with a fridge ,a simple one ring electric hob and a kettle .(there is no microwave or toaster.) You also have 2 sets of cutlery ,2 mugs ,2 glasses , a saucepan ,a frying pan .There is a price list on the back of the front door for any broken items per item large and small. There is a mix of guests here some mature couples and many groups of young lads/girls there for partying and clubbing . Poolside loungers are plentiful and are not a problem as many of the younger guests do not get up until after lunch. Check out is at 11a.m. on day of departure ,late checkout is at a cost of 30 euros if it is available as it isn't always . We arrived on a Monday evening and did not see a JET2 rep until the following Friday he was a good guy but this was useless to us . Buses into Laganas and Zakynthos town are available from outside the supermarket ,bus times are shown on the bus stop but often run late. I booked a last minute sunshine break as a solo traveler and stayed in one of Hotel Yakinthos’ apartments. I was pleasantly surprised how large the room was, spotlessly clean and with a nice balcony overlooking the lovely pool area. Thankfully the hotel is a good 30 minute walk from the main ***** which was akin to awful party places like Malia, strewn with rubbish and (embarrassingly) drunken Brits. So the distance from the hotel to here was a blessing for me as quiet and fairly peaceful. Staff were friendly and helpful but the pool furniture needs upgrading.

The hotel was an interesting enough stay. Came just myself and my friend, we’re not the usual young loud party people that I think most expect in zante however the staff definitely tarnish each young person with the same expectations. Upon arrival we were asked if we were under 25 to which we confirmed we were. We were then told we need to pay €30 each deposit for cleaning charges. I understand the deposit however this obviously wouldn’t be a thing for anyone over 25 which I think is not acceptable as should be a fair thing for all. There was nothing to say this was required on the website prior also. Following this the air con is €8 per day, we slept the first night without air con and it was insufferable so we’re forced to purchase this. Which they will only accept in cash also, no reason to why this is the case other than assuming it’s to keep things off the books as there is a card machine which I used to pay for the local tax charge (after asking 3 times) so it is an option. The aircon was weak and really didn’t make much difference but at least allowed us to sleep. We also noticed mould inside of the aircon on the last day which seems extremely unsafe and unsanitary. Further to this the electricity (obviously including aircon which was paid for) and water was unexpectedly off for a good amount of hours one day which we received no apology for and when asked when it would be fixed we were just told “don’t know”. The cleaners will come in as and when. We were getting ready one morning when the cleaner came in without knocking. We assumed she would come back as it was clear we were in the middle of getting ready but she continued to go round the room looking through things for rubbish and inspecting the towels. She then started saying the “boss” will want money for the towels as there was a small amount of foundation on the towel which is very easily washable . And if not I’m concerned at the level they are cleaning these towels. (This was all whilst me and my friend were trying to get ready and enjoy our holiday in our room we have paid for to be private!?) This happened on two occasions, one we were undressed in towels after a shower, where they came in without knocking. I brought my own white towel and a pillowcase which I do to every hotel I stay in just for comfort, the pillowcase I can understand the mistake however the towel was huge and fluffy completely different to the towels the hotel provided so was annoyed this was taken by the cleaner. No apology or resolution to this either even after raising the issue with main reception. The final day the cleaner came in again at 10 (checkout is 11) and was tapping her watch for us to leave, extremely rude. We stayed until checkout time at 11. On the final day if you wish to keep your room for a shower it’s a further €30. Our flight was unfortunately cancelled until the next day, If there was no availability we would have stayed elsewhere but just for convenience decided to ask for ava

Great wee place, a fair walk to beach which I like, staff friendly and helpful, just a pity kitchen closes at 6pm but plenty places to eat nearby. Rooms are spotless with fridge , TV , Aircon wee cooker and basic pots and kitchen stuff. Sun on property sunrise to sunset but plenty umbrellas.

The family who run it are the nicest people you will ever meet, wonderful friendly nice people, bar staff are so kind and the young lad Andy sure knows his cocktails. The room was perfect, cleaned every day with fresh towels. The food they serve was so good, wonderful atmosphere when sitting outside near the bar having an evening meal. Cant complain about a single thing, it was lovely.
