Excellent hotel in great location We used TA to choose hotel for our stay in Zanzibar as we were unsure in what location on the island to base ourselves As it worked out we were very pleased that we chose the Medinat Al Bahrain as our base. Excellent hotel, very quiet - in fact sometimes we felt as if we had the place to ourselves. Good food, great buffet breakfast and two restaurants to choose from on site. Conveniently located not far from airport especially after long connecting flight via Dubai ($10 cab fare) and same distance into Stonetown ($10 cab fare) Small public beach attached to hotel and a nice restaurant (Wooden Table) 100yds along beach After experiencing Stonetown we were glad that we stayed slightly out as the town is very busy and some hotels we first looked at could be hard to find down inaccessible (by vehicle) alleys. We did visit on a couple of occasions to do the walking tour and restaurants (Cape Town Fish Market - see separate review) - again location of hotel made visiting easy and there were a number of restaurants/bars that we could also have visited given the time. The hotel was also a good base for visiting other parts of the island which we did through Alsa Tours Zanzibar (reviewed separately) Issa (the concierge) arranged for us to meet Abdul (the owner) from Alsa Tours at the hotel who was our guide/driver for the tours that we did - prices were good and very competitive with other tour operators and more personal as tours in most cases were private We did (all reviewed separately): The North - Turtle Sanctuary/Kendra beach West - Spice Farm/Prison Island/Walking tour of Stonetown East - Butterfly Sanctuary/Jozani Forest/The Rock Restaurant South East - Safari Blue - boat trip/snorkelling/beach bbq Would say that the hotel was a great choice hotel was maticulously clean and the staff always friendly helpful and accommodating which made for a perfect stay Would highly recommend to any travellers to Zanzibar

Hotel is in the isolated area very quiet, I stayed in the room 101 (King Room with Sea View) which is one of the best and largest room in this hotel. The room was beautiful, with good furniture, very clean and lovely view from indoor and outdoor. Unfortunately, it’s appeared that there’s no quality control in the rooms particularly this room mainly bathroom, in the shower area there is no place to keep a soap (no soap holder), while taking shower you have to keep soap down the floor with full of water because water are moving slowly to the drainage. Towels are disgusting looks like not for this hotel standard, very old towels a lot of stains etc. (see the pictures) me and my wife feel very irritating using them. At night Air Condition cooling was another nightmare (we didn’t get a good sleep at all) one small AC covering the entire area of this large room, beside that cannot reduce the AC temperature below 20% C. (on the bed side was too hot, cooling was above 26% C). If these three negative points can be improved then I take into account that this boutique hotel can be excellent

Only 5mins to the airport by car drive, And only 20mins to stone town. You don't hear the sound of airplanes although the hotel is near airport, Nice and modern looking,clean,wifi connection is also good. I would like to come again here

When we arrived in Zanzibar, heading to a hotel we booked closer to the shops in Stone Town. we could not access the hotel because of unseasonably downpour of rain. The electricity was out and our reservations could not be confirmed. However, we were assured by our tour driver that he knew of a hotel that we would be able to book rooms for the remainder of our stay in Tanzania.. My family members and I began to google Hotel Verde and the rest is history. One of the greenest hotel I’ve seen. Upon our arrival at the front desk Salma and Ruqaiyya immediately put us at ease . Very warm and professional individuals. Actually I must take the time to shout out Othman and Aboss, concierge, Revina, Omar and Beatrice in the dining area Rukia and Najma at the Vanilla coffee bar and Ali I believe the manager. all just amazing individuals who made our experience exceptional.
