Cars are not allowed in Zermatt. When we arrived in Zermatt by train, at the exit there were loads of electric minibus taxis and shuttles. Somehow we didn't spot the hotel shuttle (which WAS there) and we walked to the hotel. It's a short walk, but it is slightly uphill and, with our luggage, we probably should have tried a little harder to find the shuttle. Oof. The hotel staff, concierge, housekeeping, and lounge staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful. When I caught my first sight of the Matterhorn from our room window and balcony, I actually choked up - it was that awe-inspiring. (Do get a room with a view of the Matterhorn!) The rooms do not have air conditioning - it really isn't needed - but we did request a fan to be brought to the room. The hotel was very accommodating. The fan was very effective in circulating the air. The buffet breakfasts were extremely varied, and you could also order pretty much anything I could imagine from the kitchen as well, all included, along with specialty coffee, etc. My wife and I very much enjoyed the lobby lounge for an afternoon bite and drink. The live music was a huge plus, and I have to say that the lounge service and staff were top notch. The hotel is a short walk from the train station, around the corner from the old city, steps from shopping, yet intimate and relaxing.
