The Ascension Cathedral in Almaty is an Eastern Orthodox cathedral located in Kazakhstan. The construction of the Almaty Ascension Cathedral began in 1907, and it is not only the oldest and largest church in Almaty but also the second tallest wooden cathedral in the world, built without using a single nail. The Ascension Cathedral was restored and modernized in the 1990s, with its candy-colored exterior representing the Neo-Byzantine architectural style, restoring both modern and ancient architectural features. The interior of the cathedral is exquisitely decorated with icons and murals, craftsmanship paintings, delicate brushwork, and golden splendor, making the church an artistic structure both inside and out.
