Altay in Xinjiang was the first place I traveled to on a whim. I had imagined the winter scenery there countless times: wooden houses on the snow, pink sunsets, rime-covered snow, golden mountains, and animals like swans and foxes. Climbing to the top of the mountain at dusk and overlooking the white village below, it was like stepping into a fairy tale world, making it hard to leave... ❄️Recommended Attractions 📍Sayram Lake In winter, Sayram Lake is less crowded and more beautiful, offering a better experience. Spectacular ice sculptures, swans dancing on the blue ice lake, pink skies, blue ice floes, and more, all make for a charming view. 📍Hump Mountain A 30-minute hike will reward you with a stunning sunrise and dusk, as well as a view of Altay's nightscape and golden mountains. 📍General Mountain Ski Resort How can you not ski in winter? You can also take super cool photos, and enjoy the beautiful sunset and cable car snow views. 📍Baihaba Baihaba Village, the first village in the northwest, is a very quiet and primitive village with many cute dogs. 📍Kanas Rime-covered snow, birch forests, morning mist, streams, and more, the scenery along the way is beautiful. I personally recommend: Fairy Bay, Wolong Bay, Kanas Lake, Kanas Bridge, and Huashan Valley Viewing Platform. 📍Hemu Sitting on the highest swing on the mountain, you can overlook the entire snow-covered Hemu Village, birch forests, and snow-capped mountains.
