For a real forest experience, come to Inner Mongolia (Part 2)

Chifeng is another great forest travel destination in Inner Mongolia. The Greater Khingan Mountains extend south from the north of Chifeng, while the southern part belongs to the northern foot of the Yanshan Mountains. The terrain in Chifeng is a complex of plateaus, hills, and plains, with grasslands, forests, and sandy areas interspersed. Almost every scenic spot has multiple landscapes with different landforms, making visitors feel that the trip is worth the price. Keshiketeng Banner in the west of Chifeng is adjacent to Hebei and is the first choice for tourists from Beijing and Tianjin to visit Chifeng. In addition to the two national forest parks, Huatugou and Huanggangliang, the birch forest in Panlong Canyon and the colorful forest in Wucai Mountain are especially worth visiting in autumn. Hongshan National Forest Park in Chifeng is famous for its "Hongshan Culture," but its natural landscape is not very impressive. The forest landscapes in Meiren Valley in Harqin Banner and Heili River in Ningcheng are worth a visit. In Saihanwula in Bairin Right Banner and Gaogestaihanwula in Ar Horqin Banner, the transition between grassland and forest is quite obvious. Tongliao is adjacent to Chifeng in the west, and the best forest tourism resource is in the southeast corner of Horqin Left Back Banner. Daqinggou National Nature Reserve is famous for its precious broad-leaved forest. Climb the observation tower in the scenic area to overlook the spectacular view of the forest and sand. In Inner Mongolia, forests are not exclusive to the east. In the Guraostai Ecological Reserve in West Ujimqin Banner, Xilingol, the Yaoluhairihan Mountain presents a natural landscape of half forest and half grassland. This area is part of the Greater Khingan Mountains, and the birch forest along the road is particularly dazzling. The protagonist of Luanhe River Source National Forest Park in Duolun County is nearly 200,000 mu of natural elm forest, which forms a diverse landscape with grasslands, wetlands, and sandy areas. Sumu Mountain in Xinghe County, Ulanqab, has the largest artificial forest farm in Inner Mongolia, making it a great place to escape the summer heat and enjoy the autumn leaves. It is worth noting that you should not discard this guide after summer, as you will need it again in autumn. After September, the grasslands of Inner Mongolia give way to forests, and most of the forest scenic spots mentioned above will be dressed in colorful forests. The Daixintala Wujiaofeng Ecological Scenic Area in Horqin Right Middle Banner, Hinggan League, and Daoxugou in Ningcheng, Chifeng, are both worth a special visit. Even in winter, places like Arxan become travel destinations for skiing and hot springs, and it is also the best time to experience the "forest sea and snowfield."
